At CesiumAstro, we are developers and pioneers of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We take pride in our dynamic and cross-functional work environment, which allows us to learn, develop, and engage across our organization. If you are looking for hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work, CesiumAstro is the place for you. We are actively seeking passionate, collaborative, energetic, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team.
The Skylark product line is focused on the rapid design, build, and test of cutting-edge active phased array antennas (AESA) for terrestrial and airborne applications. Current programs span high-power, large-scale ground terminals for missile defense to commercial airline and helicopter connectivity solutions.
CesiumAstro is seeking a customer-focused Sales Engineer to lead technical demonstrations, evaluations, and field deployments of advanced SATCOM terminal solutions. This role serves as the primary technical interface between prospective customers and CesiumAstro's engineering and business development teams, showcasing the performance, capabilities, and mission value of our electronically steered antenna and satellite communications products.
The ideal candidate combines deep SATCOM systems knowledge with exceptional presentation skills and a passion for delivering compelling customer experiences. Success in this role requires the ability to configure systems, execute live demonstrations, troubleshoot issues in real time, and clearly communicate the operational and technical value of CesiumAstro solutions to customers and stakeholders.
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead customer demonstrations of SATCOM terminals across commercial, government, aerospace, and defense markets.
Plan, configure, and execute live over-the-air demonstrations, field evaluations, and proof-of-concept activities.
Travel to customer sites, test ranges, integration facilities, and industry events to support demonstrations and technical engagements.
Operate, configure, and troubleshoot SATCOM terminals, electronically steered antennas, modems, RF equipment, and supporting network infrastructure during demonstrations.
Develop demonstration scenarios that highlight key performance metrics, operational capabilities, network performance, and mission-relevant use cases.
Serve as the primary technical lead during customer evaluations, ensuring successful execution of demonstrations and rapid resolution of technical issues.
Partner with Business Development and Account Managers to support customer pursuits and capture activities.
Conduct technical presentations, product briefings, architecture reviews, and solution discussions for customer stakeholders.
Develop and communicate complete SATCOM system architectures, including user terminals, modem technologies, satellite networks, gateway infrastructure, terrestrial networking, and end-to-end traffic flow.
Support proposal responses by developing technical content, solution architectures, and performance analyses.
Translate customer operational requirements into demonstration plans, evaluation criteria, and technical solutions.
Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer evaluation and procurement process.
Provide customer feedback and field insights to product management and engineering teams.
Support verification and validation of new product features and capabilities prior to customer demonstrations.
Collaborate with systems, RF, networking, software, and hardware engineering teams to resolve technical issues encountered during customer evaluations.
Assist in developing demonstration tools, training materials, technical documentation, and customer-facing collateral.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience in SATCOM, RF systems, aerospace communications, defense communications, networking, or related customer-facing technical roles.
Hands-on experience with satellite communication terminals, modems, RF systems, networking equipment, or satellite network operations.
Strong understanding of IP networking and terrestrial network integration.
Working knowledge of SATCOM modem technologies and waveforms, including DVB-S2X, TDMA, SCPC, OFDM, Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), and related communications technologies.
Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, including link budgets, EIRP, G/T, antenna performance, interference mechanisms, and propagation effects.
Knowledge of satellite network architectures across GEO, MEO, and LEO constellations.
Understanding of gateway infrastructure, network operations, and end-to-end traffic flow within modern satellite communication systems.
Ability to troubleshoot issues across networking, modem, RF, and terminal domains during live customer demonstrations and field deployments.
Ability to engage credibly with customer engineering teams, network architects, satellite operators, systems integrators, and technical decision makers.
Excellent presentation, communication, and customer-facing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
Ability to travel frequently (25–50%) to customer locations, test sites, and industry events.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with electronically steered antennas (ESA), phased-array systems, or multi-orbit SATCOM networks.
Experience supporting GEO, MEO, and LEO service providers or satellite network operators.
Familiarity with military, airborne, maritime, and mobility SATCOM applications.
Experience conducting customer demonstrations, trade show exhibits, proof-of-concept trials, or operational field testing.
Knowledge of RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, and modem test platforms.
Experience with cloud-connected networking, SD-WAN, network orchestration, or managed satellite services.
