About the Role
The Creative Director for Beauty will define and lead the end-to-end creative vision for all Beauty initiatives at Gap Inc. This role is responsible for translating the marketing strategy through elevated brand storytelling, visual identity, and creative expression across all consumer touchpoints — from product and packaging to campaigns and digital experiences.
As the creative leader of the Beauty function, this individual will translate brand strategy into compelling, differentiated creative that drives cultural relevance and commercial impact. Partnering closely with Marketing, Product Development, Merchandising, and Creative Operations, the Creative Director ensures that all creative output is both strategically aligned and executed to the highest standard.
This role balances visionary leadership with hands-on creative direction, fostering a high-performing, collaborative team while delivering best-in-class work at speed and scale.
What You'll Do
1. Creative Vision & Brand Leadership
Define and evolve the creative vision, visual identity, and storytelling framework for Beauty across all channels.
Establish a clear and differentiated point of view that elevates brand equity while driving consumer engagement and conversion.
Ensure consistent and cohesive expression of the Beauty brand across campaigns, product, packaging, retail, and digital experiences.
Translate seasonal strategies and product launches into compelling, integrated creative narratives.
2. Product, Campaign & Content Direction
Lead the conceptual development and execution of 360° marketing campaigns, including photography, video, social, digital, and in-store experiences.
Provide creative direction for product storytelling, ensuring a premium and differentiated aesthetic across all assets.
Lead the creative evolution of Beauty product architecture, including naming strategy, visual identity systems, and cohesive frameworks across product categories and extensions.
Lead creative direction for in-store experiences and retail storytelling, ensuring cohesive and elevated brand expression across physical environments.
Review and approve all creative output, ensuring alignment to brand standards, quality, and strategic objectives.
Partner with Creative Operations to ensure creative concepts are executable within timelines, budgets, and production realities.
3. Team Leadership & Development
Build, lead, and inspire a multidisciplinary creative team including design, copy, art direction, and external partners.
Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability, balancing innovation with operational excellence.
Provide clear direction, feedback, and mentorship to elevate team performance and creative output.
Champion a test-and-learn mindset to continuously refine creative effectiveness.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Marketing, Merchandising, and Product Development to align creative work with business priorities and go-to-market strategies.
Collaborate with Creative Operations to ensure seamless execution, resource alignment, and process efficiency.
Act as the senior creative voice in cross-functional forums, influencing strategy and ensuring creative is embedded early in planning processes.
Ensure Beauty creative integrates seamlessly into broader brand and enterprise campaigns.
5. External Partnerships & Production Oversight
Oversee creative agencies, photographers, stylists, and production partners to deliver best-in-class work.
Lead casting, shoot direction, and post-production to ensure a consistent and elevated creative output.
Identify and cultivate new creative partners and talent to keep the brand culturally relevant and differentiated.
Partner with Creative Operations on vendor selection, scopes of work, and production planning.
6. Performance & Innovation
Partner with Marketing and Analytics teams to assess creative performance and optimize based on insights.
Stay attuned to industry trends, emerging platforms, and cultural shifts to inform creative direction.
Drive innovation in content formats, storytelling, and consumer engagement strategies.
Balance creative ambition with business impact, ensuring work drives both brand heat and revenue.
Who You Are
12+ years of experience in creative leadership roles within beauty, fashion, retail, or lifestyle brands.
Proven track record of developing and executing high-impact, brand-defining creative across multiple channels.
Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in campaign development, art direction, and brand storytelling.
Deep understanding of the full creative process — from concept through production and execution.
Experience leading and developing high-performing creative teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong collaboration and influencing skills across cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership.
Ability to balance creative vision with operational realities, timelines, and budgets.
Strong cultural awareness and trend fluency within the beauty and lifestyle space.
