Do you have a passion for entertainment, sports and pop culture? Join our dynamic Pan Non-Fiction team! As an Editor, you will play a central role in bringing impactful books to life, working closely with authors, agents and internal teams to guide non-fiction titles from a fresh idea all the way to publication.

Your team:
You will join a collaborative team dedicated to publishing commercial non-fiction that drives conversations. We are highly tuned in to pop culture and entertainment, working on everything from celebrity memoirs and sports icons to breakout trends across digital media and podcasts. We champion our authors and work closely across all departments (including Sales, Art, Production and Communications) to publish every book to the absolute highest standard. Some of our recently published authors include Adrian Edmondson, Lisa Marie Presley, Louis Theroux and Cynthia Erivo.

Your role:
As an Editor, your primary responsibilities will revolve around managing the lifecycle of your books from idea to launch. You will have a specific focus on supporting the high-profile commercial lists of the Publisher and Publishing Director, while simultaneously developing your own commercial entertainment intellectual property (IP). Serving as a trusted and reliable coordinator across these projects, you will work collaboratively with authors, agents and internal teams to ensure each book reaches its full commercial potential and resonates with our readers.

Your key responsibilities:

• End-to-end title management: Oversee your assigned titles, guiding them efficiently from initial pitch through to publication while keeping all internal and external partners aligned.

• Structural and detailed editing: Shape manuscripts to a high standard, taking responsibility for structural edits, proofreading and copywriting (including writing engaging cover copy and Title Information sheets).

• Proactive IP and idea generation: Actively pitch and contribute creative ideas for new intellectual property (IP) and commercial concepts, with the long-term goal of acquiring your own titles for the list.

• Active meeting contribution: Confidently participate and share opinions in commercial and editorial meetings, presenting and championing titles internally to key commercial teams (Sales, Rights and Communications).

• Cross-functional coordination: Partner closely with Art, Production and Design to brief jackets, clear permissions and monitor the Critical Path to keep every book strictly on schedule.

• Industry and agent networking: Proactively build strong relationships with literary agents, talent managers and creators across the entertainment, sports and digital media landscape to discover fresh voices.

• Database and record management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date data systems (including Biblio) to support smooth commercial and logistical operations for the whole list.

Essential experience, abilities, knowledge and values you’ll need to succeed:

• Editorial experience: Experience working within a trade book publishing editorial department, ideally at Assistant Editor or Editor level.

• Advanced editing skills: Proven experience taking a book through the full lifecycle, including strong structural editing, line editing and copywriting skills.

• Commercial entertainment passion: A deep knowledge of and genuine enthusiasm for contemporary pop culture, social media trends, podcasts, sports and celebrity-led commercial non-fiction, alongside a strong interest in the Pan Non-Fiction list and our authors.

• Proactive mindset: A self-motivated, proactive approach to spotting trends, generating creative IP concepts and taking initiative on project workflows.

• Organization and workflow management: A proven ability to organize tasks and adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

• Effective communication: Clear written and spoken communication skills, with a readiness to share ideas and contribute meaningfully to team and company meetings.

• Software/tools: Experience working with systems and tools such as MS Office, Google Workspace and Biblio.

Desirable skills we’d love you to have:

• Project research: Experience or familiarity with picture research and clearing copyright permissions for books.

Salary: £33,000–£35,000

This is a full-time, permanent role and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
