The role

The Bays West Delivery Authority is charged with creating Sydney’s newest precinct, a thriving, connected, sustainable hub with White Bay Power Station as its cultural heart and well connected by the new Metro West line. Its vision is to build on the area’s natural cultural and industrial history to shape a vibrant neighbourhood combining new housing with public open space and opening access to the waterfront for the first time in more than 100 years.

 

As the Manager Governance & Executive Services, you will partner with the Executive team to enable high-quality decision-making, organisational performance and accountability, ensuring strategic priorities are effectively translated into action. You will lead the development and strengthening of the Authority’s governance frameworks, policies and procedures, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose and aligned with legislative and whole-of-government requirements.

 

This role will shape the flow of information to the Executive, coordinate critical processes and provide clear, trusted advice on complex and often sensitive matters. Your ability to anticipate issues, bring clarity to ambiguity and maintain momentum will directly support the success of this complex, high-profile project.

 

You will lead the coordination of executive operations, ministerial and parliamentary services, and governance processes, managing deadlines, risks and quality outcomes. From managing executive workflows and high-level communications to driving continuous improvement and strengthening governance practices, you will play a critical role in enabling confident, informed decision making at the highest level.

What you will bring to the role

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distil complex information into clear, influential advice that supports high-quality decision making.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capability to navigate ambiguity, anticipate challenges and deliver practical solutions in a complex, fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate across government and stakeholders, including experience liaising with central departments and Ministers’ Offices, and aligning diverse perspectives to achieve shared outcomes.
• Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver to tight deadlines without compromising quality.
• Sound judgement and discretion when managing sensitive or high-profile matters, ensuring confidentiality while maintaining transparency and integrity.
• A proactive mindset, with the confidence to take initiative, identify opportunities for improvement and drive better ways of working.
• A genuine commitment to purpose-driven work, with the ability to connect day-to-day responsibilities to broader outcomes for communities across NSW.

Key knowledge and experience

• Knowledge of machinery of government, Cabinet and Parliamentary processes, and experience in coordinating and quality-assuring Ministerial correspondence, briefings and parliamentary material.
• Demonstrated experience and capacity to critically assess and provide constructive feedback on written material in the context of Executive and Ministerial requirements.

 

Essential requirements

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Business Management/Administration and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.
