Responsible for the design, fabrication, and maintenance of prototypes and custom solutions for water and wastewater utility infrastructure. Performs preventative maintenance and repair on small portable equipment, hydraulics, and electrical components.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in equipment maintenance and fabrication. Must possess or obtain Class 1 Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection certifications, a Class B CDL, and a 3G welding certificate.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Water Trades group supports numerous functions across Aurora Water. This includes but is not limited to raw water conveyance, water treatment functions, stormwater infrastructure improvements, and Wastewater functions. Within these functions, the Water Trades Technician is responsible for metal fabrication, small equipment maintenance, 3D printing applications, and a demonstrated ability to utilize Computer Aided Design applications.

The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
