Job Description
Our Building Engineering Team is looking for a Fire Protection Engineering Intern to join us in Brisbane. You will work alongside a supportive team on a variety of projects, providing assistance with technical fire protection design services for sectors such as defence, aviation, data centres, education, and health.
How You’ll Make a Difference:
Support various phases of fire protection project design and delivery, from concept to construction and commissioning, helping to ensure high-quality solutions across different sectors.
Assist in designing fire hydrant and hose reel systems, automatic fire sprinkler systems, alternative fire suppression systems, gas suppression, fire detection, and evacuation systems.
Collaborate with engineers from different disciplines on large, multi-disciplinary projects to help develop integrated fire protection solutions for major clients.
Help ensure that fire protection designs comply with the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, local authority regulations, and client-specific standards.
Build your knowledge of wet and dry fire protection systems through hands-on involvement and mentorship from senior engineers.

Qualifications
Summer Intern attributes: Interns who are curious and excited to apply their studies in a professional environment. You'll bring strong communication and teamwork skills, a positive and proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to professionalism and integrity.
Bachelor’s Degree: You must be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in any Engineering discipline and have an interest in, or understanding of, building engineering and fire safety engineering.
Commencement: Able to work full time hours from mid November 2026 – mid February 2027.
Working Rights: Candidates must hold Australian citizenship and be eligible to obtain the required Defence Security Clearance for this role.
