POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Advocate fosters a program environment conducive to the academic, social, and personal development of students in grades 8-12. Our goal is to help students stay in school, graduate, and plan for their future.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
Partner individually with students through targeted mentorship to build self-direction and actionable paths toward future goals.
Motivating students collectively and individually to achieve academic success through encouraging, advising, and planning strategies.
Providing academic assistance to students including tutoring, homework assistance, and exam review in all subject areas, and assistance in standardized test preparation.
Encouraging student completion and reviewing of PLP’s and SEA’s to drive individual case management.
Handling other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree
NYS K-12 Teaching Certification preferred
An interest in, and commitment to, academic achievement for high school students
An understanding of and comfort with culturally diverse populations
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Flexibility and adaptability are essential
Additional Information:
Pay Range: $18.00 per hour
