Provide legal advice and support to the Total Rewards group regarding the design, implementation, and compliance of health, welfare, and retirement benefit plans. Support nonqualified plans and executive compensation programs while partnering with HR benefits teams and plan fiduciaries.
Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and an active Texas law license. Candidates must have 4 to 8 years of experience focusing on Employment Benefits law in a law firm or in-house setting.
As a member of a dynamic legal team, the attorney in this position will serve as a critical business partner and legal adviser, reporting to the Director of Global Litigation, Employment and Brand Protection. The Legal Counsel – Employee Benefits role will support the Total Rewards group, and will have primary responsibility for partnering closely with and providing advice and support to Pizza Hut’s Human Resources benefits teams, plan fiduciaries, and other internal colleagues at all levels of the Company regarding benefit plan design, implementation, interpretation, and compliance with respect to: health and welfare plans; wellness initiatives; disability and leave programs; defined contribution retirement plans, including benefit plan and program compliance with ERISA, Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, the Internal Revenue Code, COBRA and related state laws; tuition assistance programs, and various other benefit programs provided by the Company.
This role will also provide legal support for nonqualified plans and executive compensation as needed, such as deferred compensation, bonus and other incentive compensation, and other employee reward and recognition programs.
The successful candidate will have a strategic growth mindset and a passion for providing world-class legal support by collaboratively working across business units while consistently modeling Pizza Hut’s cultural values. Legal Counsel will also perform other essential Law Department functions and responsibilities as assigned.
