Role Overview

Sr. Manager Recovery-(Collections & Legal)

Location : Pan-India (HQ-based role with extensive field and regional oversight)

We are hiring a senior leader to head Collections, Recovery, and Legal functions for our EV financing portfolio. This role is critical to protecting asset quality, minimizing credit losses, and building a scalable, compliant, and ethical recovery framework aligned with our sustainability-first mission.

The incumbent will own end-to-end collections and recovery strategy, legal escalation, repossession and resale processes, vendor management, and portfolio risk mitigation across geographies. This is a high-impact role requiring strong execution capability, regulatory understanding, and on-ground leadership.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategy & Leadership

Define and execute collections, recovery, and legal strategy for EV loan portfolios across buckets (early, mid, late, and write-offs).

Build scalable frameworks for pre-delinquency controls, soft collections, hard recovery, and legal action.

Act as a strategic partner to Credit, Sales, Ops teams to improve overall portfolio health.

Drive data-backed decision-making for recovery prioritization and resource allocation.

Collections & Recovery Operations

Oversee field collections, tele-collections, repossession, and asset tracing across locations.

Establish clear SOPs for bucket-wise collection, skip tracing, repossession, auction/resale, and settlements.

Ensure ethical, compliant, and customer-sensitive recovery practices aligned with RBI and internal policies.

Monitor key metrics: PAR(Portfolio at Risk), GNPA(Gross Non-Performing Assets), roll rates, resolution TAT, recovery efficiency, cost of collection.

Repo, Asset Management & Resale

Own end-to-end repossession and resale lifecycle for EV assets.

Empanel, manage, and audit repo agents, yard operators, valuers, and auction partners.

Ensure maximum realization through structured resale channels, pricing discipline, and turnaround time control.

Legal & Compliance

Lead legal recovery actions including SARFAESI (where applicable), arbitration, civil/criminal cases, and settlements.

Manage and monitor all legal repossession and recovery cases on a pan-India basis, ensuring timely action, cost control, and effective resolution.

Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines, fair practices code, and internal governance standards.

Provide legal inputs on recovery risk, policy improvements, and portfolio structuring.

Team Building & Governance

Build and scale a high-performance collections and legal team.

Define KRAs, incentive structures, productivity benchmarks, and review mechanisms.

Conduct regular audits, field reviews to prevent leakages and misconduct.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

Present portfolio performance, risk outlook, and recovery plans to senior management and leadership.

Drive continuous improvement using analytics, MIS, and digital collection tools.

What Makes a Good Candidate

10–15 years of experience in collections, recovery, and legal roles within NBFCs, banks, or vehicle finance companies.

Strong exposure to CV finance, EV finance, or asset-backed retail lending.

Hands-on experience in field recovery, repossession, auctions, and legal recovery.

Deep understanding of RBI regulations, recovery laws, and compliance frameworks.

Proven ability to manage field teams and channel partner ecosystems.

Prior leadership experience in EV finance, new-age NBFCs, or high-growth lending platforms.

Demonstrated success in reducing NPAs, improving recovery rates, and building scalable recovery models.
