The Security Officer is responsible for patrolling hospital grounds, responding to calls for service, and managing high-risk or violent situations. They must document daily activities and ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff through proactive prevention of theft and vandalism.
Candidates must have a valid Class D Driver's License and either 2 years of security/military/law enforcement experience, a related Associate's degree with 1 year of experience, or a Bachelor's degree. Preferred qualifications include hospital security experience, POST certification, or EMT-B certification.
Job Overview
Fairview is hiring a Security Officer at our Fairview Southdale location in Edina, MN. In this role, you’ll be the calm, confident presence that helps patients, visitors, and staff feel safe from the moment they walk through the doors. You’ll patrol the hospital, respond to calls for service, assist with difficult or high-risk situations, and proactively prevent theft or vandalism—while delivering strong customer service every step of the way.
This is a 0.9 FTE night-shift position (72 hours per pay period) with an every weekend rotation. Starting pay is $25.88 per hour and increases with experience, plus shift differentials and a comprehensive benefits package that includes tuition reimbursement, a 403(b), and annual merit increases.
