The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteers across meal preparation and community spaces. They also manage volunteer scheduling, maintain data records, and foster relationships to support the agency's mission.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or at least 3 years of experience in volunteer or project management. Strong skills in public speaking, task delegation, and working with diverse groups are required.

In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices.
We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 36 years, the agency has provided 15M+ free, scratch-made meals.
Summary: To support our mission, Community Servings works with dozens of volunteers each day to help prepare meals and participate in a variety of other activities which support our mission, all managed by the Volunteer Services department. This team is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator whose main role is to coordinate, train, and oversee the volunteers who work in our meal preparation spaces, community room, and occasionally offsite at special events. This role will be one of three Coordinators—who share responsibilities across our locations to schedule groups, plan around seasonal trends in volunteering, and ensure all volunteers feel welcomed, supported, and heard when they connect with Community Servings or walk through our doors.
This position is based primarily at our Jamaica Plain facility. Occasional travel to our second site in Mansfield, MA, may be required.

Food Heals
Community Servings is a not-for-profit food and nutrition program providing services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses, like HIV/AIDS, Cancer, MS, Lou Gehrig’s disease and more than 30 others. We provide our clients, and their dependent families and caregivers with nutritious, made-from-scratch meals and send the message to those in greatest need that someone cares. Our goals are to help our clients maintain their health and dignity and preserve the integrity of their families through free, culturally appropriate, home-delivered meals, nutrition education, and other community programs.
