Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a smart, experienced, and highly motivated litigator to help manage its worldwide portfolio of government enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters, and advise the company on a wide variety of legal and business risk management issues.
Key job responsibilities Responsibilities include handling and supervising a wide range of government disputes and regulatory engagements across all of Amazon’s businesses; directly interacting with government officials, including local, state, and federal regulators and law enforcement; directing overall case and matter strategy; selecting and managing outside counsel; assessing risk and coordinating with senior leadership on risk management; counseling internal stakeholders on a broad spectrum of complex and often novel legal and policy issues; managing all stages of both affirmative and defensive litigation, including discovery; working with supervisor to set short and long-term priorities and strategy for team's work; working to identify and implement process improvements; developing the skills of more junior team members; participate .
About the team This position is part of Amazon’s Government & Regulatory Litigation team.
Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent - 13+ years of post bar admission legal experience - Experience leading and interacting with cross-functional teams - 10+ years of litigation and regulatory experience - Experience leading and working with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience at both a law firm and federal or state government agency - Federal judicial clerkship - Trial experience - Familiarity with retail, Internet, software, and/or media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate - Proficiency in advising senior executives of an organization - Demonstrated sound business judgment - Demonstrated high ethical standards and professional integrity - Experience with budget planning and oversight for legal work - Experience setting short and long-term legal strategy for a broader team

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
