The Role
As a Senior Associate Engineer – Roads & Highways, you will be a key technical and client leader within our North Queensland team. You will drive the successful delivery of major transport infrastructure projects, lead high-performing teams and play a significant role in shaping the growth and future direction of the Roads & Highways business. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic pursuits while remaining actively involved in complex project delivery.
In this role, you will:
Provide technical leadership across major roads and highways projects.
Lead multidisciplinary teams and oversee project performance.
Build and strengthen relationships with clients and industry partners.
Identify and secure new business opportunities.
Provide strategic input into project pursuits and market growth initiatives.
Drive quality, safety and commercial outcomes across project portfolios.
Mentor and develop engineering teams across the region.
Represent SMEC as a trusted industry leader and technical advisor.
About You
You are a respected engineering professional with a strong industry profile and a proven ability to lead teams, projects and client relationships. You balance technical excellence with commercial acumen and enjoy helping others succeed.
You will bring:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
12-15 years’ experience delivering major road and transport infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated leadership of project teams and technical specialists.
Strong business development and client engagement experience.
Proven commercial, project management and risk management capability.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
An established industry network within Queensland.
RPEQ registration and Chartered Engineer status.
