Job Description
Lead the delivery of major infrastructure projects that shape Queensland.
At AECOM, we’re delivering a better world. Across Queensland, our teams are helping government and industry partners deliver the transport infrastructure that connects communities, supports economic growth and prepares our cities and regions for the future.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Contract Administrator / Superintendent to join our growing Construction Management and Contract Administration team.
This is a senior role for an infrastructure professional who brings extensive experience in the administration and delivery of complex road and transport infrastructure projects. You’ll take a leading role in managing major construction contracts, working closely with government clients, contractors, technical specialists and project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual, technical, commercial and quality requirements.
You’ll be trusted to provide sound commercial and contractual advice, lead teams, manage complex issues and make decisions that protect project outcomes. Your experience will be particularly valuable on high-value road infrastructure and major Design & Construct, construct-only, collaborative and alliance projects.
What you’ll do
As a Senior Contract Administrator / Superintendent, you’ll play a critical role in the successful delivery and administration of major infrastructure contracts.
You’ll:
Lead the administration and delivery of major, high-value road and transport infrastructure contracts, ensuring projects achieve their time, cost, quality, safety and contractual objectives.
Undertake the role of Superintendent, Contract Administrator, Administrator’s Representative or Principal’s Representative, depending on the project and client requirements.
Provide senior contractual and commercial leadership across the full project lifecycle, from mobilisation and construction through to completion and close-out.
Manage and administer complex construction contracts in accordance with contractual requirements, TMR standards, policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
Provide expert advice to clients and project leadership on contractual, commercial, technical, operational and risk matters.
Lead the assessment and management of variations, claims, extensions of time, payment claims, contractual notices and other commercial matters.
Lead the resolution of complex contractual and project issues, using sound judgement, negotiation and commercial awareness to achieve positive outcomes.
Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams of engineers, technical specialists, project professionals and external advisors.
Provide leadership across technical, quality, safety, environmental and construction matters, ensuring appropriate standards are consistently applied.
Establish and maintain effective project governance, reporting and contract administration processes.
Monitor project expenditure, contract payments, forecasts, cash flow and emerging commercial risks, providing clear advice on trends and potential impacts.
Prepare high-quality reports, briefing papers and advice for senior client and government stakeholders on project status, expenditure, risks, incidents and emerging issues.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a senior infrastructure professional who combines deep technical and construction experience with strong commercial judgement and leadership capability.
You’ll ideally have:
A degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification recognised by Engineers Australia.
RPEQ registration.
Extensive experience in the contract administration and delivery of major road infrastructure projects.
Significant experience acting as a Contract Administrator, Superintendent, Administrator’s Representative or Principal’s Representative.
Strong experience administering complex road infrastructure construction contracts, ideally including TIC-CO, D&C, CPA, Alliance or equivalent contracts.
Extensive knowledge of contract administration, including variations, claims, extensions of time, payment claims, contractual notices, disputes and contractor performance.
A strong understanding of civil construction and infrastructure delivery, including roads, bridges, pavements, earthworks, drainage and associated infrastructure.
Strong understanding of Transport and Main Roads policies, standards, specifications and contract procedures.
Additional Information
The projects you’ll work on
You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to some of Queensland’s most significant infrastructure programs, working across complex projects that can include:
Major road upgrades and transport infrastructure
High-value construct-only and Design & Construct projects
Bridges and major structures
Earthworks and complex pavement construction
Drainage and stormwater infrastructure
Road furniture and safety infrastructure
Electrical infrastructure and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
Landscaping and urban design
Retaining structures and associated civil works
Complex multidisciplinary transport programs
This role provides the opportunity to work at the intersection of construction, contracts, commercial management and project leadership — with genuine influence over how major infrastructure projects are delivered.
