U. S. Marine Management, LLC Position Description

 

Job Location: Yokohama, Japan

 

Purpose/Summary

U.S. Marine Management, LLC (USMMI) is providing support to the U.S. Army Pre-Positioned Stock Four (APS-4) Watercraft/Modular Causeway System (MCS) Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS), Exercise and Maintenance program located at the Watercraft Equipment Base – Yokohama North Dock (WEB-YND) in Yokohama, Japan, in order to support Military and Humanitarian actions worldwide.

The Supply Chain Specialist will be responsible for the daily operational support of the storage facility and to maintenance personnel of all parts and materials stored in the storage facility (Building 500) and other storage locations for HAZMAT Materials and Special Tools. The Supply Chain Specialist will conduct the receipt, inspection, inventory, preservation, packaging, accounting, and storage of all parts and materials of supply classes I to IV and VI to IX to include shelf life, Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Basic Issue Item (BII), Components of an End Item (COEI), On Board Spares Listing (OBSL), Sets, Kits and Outfits (SKO), expendable durable, General Services Administration (GSA), and locally procured items in accordance with U.S. Army regulations. They will be responsible to provide “ready to use” parts and materials in timely and efficient manner in support of U.S. Army Watercraft and Modular Causeway Systems (MCS) located at Watercraft Equipment Base-Yokohama North Dock (WEB-YND), Yokohama, Japan. 

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, stock, control inventory, conduct cyclic inventory, and issue materials for use with Army Watercraft, Government Furnished Equipment and Contractor Acquired Property.
• Maintain an effective accountability of all storage facility stocked and stored items within the Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-Army) Database and in accordance with U.S. Army and DoD Regulations.
• Monitor inventory levels of materials, equipment, and stock issued, distributed, transferred within or outside the organization and/or disposed.
• Compile inventory reports - detailing the quantity, type and value of materials, equipment and other stock on hand. Both manual and computerized inventory control and stocking taking methods will be used.

Alternate Responsibilities

• Complete additional assigned duties as required by U.S. Marine Management, LLC Management.
• Must complete all government computer training requirements
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a drivers permit for driving in Japan and on U.S. Government installations
• Must complete DoD Shelf-Life Training.
• Must complete DoD Hazmat Awareness Training.
• Must complete forklift operations training and licensing.

Position Specifications 

Education and Experience

• Have working experience with Federal, Department of Defense, and either/or Army/Navy/Air Force supply management and storage facility management programs with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience. Proficient in the basic functionality of the GCSS-Army/FEDLOG systems. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and must be adaptive and flexible in meeting the needs of the business.
• Capable of working independently and making sound decisions through creative problem-solving.
• Must exhibit excellent attention to detail, communication, customer service and collaboration skills. 

Technical Skills and Competencies Required

• MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), MS Outlook, web applications, and document publishing applications (preferable) Preferred Skills and proficiency in the use of GCSS-Army and Maintenance Software Applications.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and must be adaptive and flexible in meeting the needs of the business.
• Supports commitment to safety and other selected company standards and certifications.
• USMMI is a drug-free work environment and requires employees to take random drug tests during their employment with the company.
• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining a security clearance from the Defense Security Service (DSS).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

 

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Typically, the employee will be required to split time between a general office setting and working inside the storage facility as well as outside storage facilities locations in performance of receipt, issuance and accountability requirements for storage of parts and materials. Storage Facility management work will require employees to wear hearing protection if needed on board vessels due to high noise decibels. Waterfront and Pier climates change with the seasons, and the employee may be in varying temperatures requiring various protective clothing. Employees will be required to work inside a non-climate-controlled storage facility as well as outside in storage facilities performing inventories, delivery as well as removal of stock for issuance or turn in, which may be during inclement weather, requiring the wear of rain gear and safety items. In the office setting the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work, usually at a computer terminal – with short breaks or lunch period. Day-to-day requirements will require some bending/stooping, reaching above shoulder level, walking; standing; carrying of light items such as parts, equipment, papers, books or packages of up to 25 pounds. Personnel should be able to hear & speak clearly using phone / headset to communicate with customers; be able to navigate, view & enter information on the computer.
