Full-time/Permanent
Salary:£40,000 - £52,000
neurobox is the neuroNavigation company helping the world's largest organisations embed neuroinclusion at scale so that everyone finds their way in the workforce. We deliver Workplace Needs Assessments, coaching, awareness training, assistive technology and neurohub; our free digital platform that connects every step of the employee neuroinclusion journey.
Our Belief - We value different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. We welcome applications from experienced Senior Developers regardless of background, identity, or career journey. We know exceptional engineers come from many different paths. If you don't meet every requirement but believe you can thrive in the role, we would love to hear from you. We are committed to providing an inclusive recruitment process and reasonable adjustments throughout.
Employer Value Proposition - Meaningful work with visible impact, Inclusive, collaborative culture, Hybrid flexibility, and Professional development.
Role Overview - Build technology that solves real problems. Shape how we build it. Help raise the standard of engineering around you.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Developer to take meaningful technical ownership, influence how products are designed and built, and work with colleagues who care about creating secure, scalable, and genuinely useful technology.
You will help turn complex customer and business needs into thoughtful technical solutions, challenge assumptions, improve engineering practices and support other developers to do their best work. You will have the autonomy to make decisions within your area, alongside the responsibility to consider maintainability, security, accessibility, performance, and long-term product value.
Artificial intelligence is becoming part of modern software engineering rather than a separate specialism. We therefore want someone who can use AI-enabled development tools confidently and responsibly, understand where AI can improve products or engineering workflows, and apply sound judgement around data, security, quality, and human oversight.
This role offers the chance to influence both what we build and how we build it. You will work across the development lifecycle, partnering with Product and other colleagues to explore problems, shape solutions, make pragmatic architectural decisions and deliver software through to production.
We are interested in people who combine technical depth with curiosity and commercial awareness. You may come from a SaaS business, technology consultancy, digital product environment or another setting where you have built and supported production software. What matters most is the quality of your thinking, the impact you have had and the way you work with others.
What you will be trusted to do
Own the design and delivery of complex software features and services from discovery through to production, making sound technical decisions and communicating the trade-offs behind them.
Build clean, secure, testable, and maintainable software, while improving existing code and addressing technical debt in a deliberate and commercially sensible way.
Contribute to architecture and technical design, helping ensure solutions can scale and evolve as customer, product, and business needs change.
Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to accelerate research, prototyping, coding, testing, documentation and problem-solving without compromising engineering judgement or quality.
Identify credible opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities into products, services, or internal workflows, evaluating value, risk, feasibility and appropriate human oversight.
Strengthen engineering quality through thoughtful code review, automated testing, observability, CI/CD, documentation, and secure development practices.
Support production services, investigate incidents and recurring issues, and turn operational learning into lasting improvements.
Help create an inclusive engineering culture where constructive challenge, experimentation, learning and accountability are encouraged.
We're looking for someone who has:
A software engineer with 6+ years experience who can operate with a high degree of independence while remaining collaborative. You do not need to know every technology we use on day one, but you should have strong engineering fundamentals, evidence of delivering production software and the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
Practical experience of building accessible interfaces to WCAG standards, and an understanding of how design decisions affect neurodivergent and disabled users.
Experience with Laravel with Filament and Livewire, MySQL, and AWS (EC2, RDS, S3), with Stripe. Familiarity with Filament is welcome but not essential.
Strong commercial software development experience, including meaningful ownership of production systems or substantial product features.
Strong capability in one or more modern programming languages and the ability to apply sound software design and engineering principles across different technologies.
Experience of APIs, databases, cloud environments, version control, automated testing, and modern CI/CD practices.
An understanding of secure software development, privacy, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Practical experience using AI-enabled development tools such as coding assistants, large language models or related tooling, with an understanding of verification, confidentiality, intellectual property, and security considerations.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
You don't need to tick every box to be successful in this role. If your experience is closely aligned and you're excited about the opportunity, we would encourage you to apply. We value curiosity, potential and a willingness to learn just as much as direct experience.
We are committed to creating an inclusive recruitment process and workplace where everyone feels they belong.
If you require any reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know.
