Full job description
Principal Clinical Informaticist - Clinical Intelligence
Truveta is the world’s first health provider led data platform with a vision of Saving Lives with Data. Our mission is to enable researchers to find cures faster, empower every clinician to be an expert, and help families make the most informed decisions about their care. Achieving Truveta’ s ambitious vision requires an incredible team of talented and inspired people with a special combination of health, software and big data experience who share our company values.
Truveta was born in the Pacific Northwest, but we have employees who live across the country. Our team enjoys the flexibility of a hybrid model and working from anywhere. In person attendance is required at least once per year for an onsite meeting.
For overall team productivity, we optimize meeting hours in the pacific time zone. We avoid scheduling recurring meetings that start after 3pm PT, however, ad hoc meetings occur between 8am-6pm Pacific time. #LI-remote
Who We Need
Truveta is rapidly building a talented and diverse team to tackle complex health and technical challenges. Beyond core capabilities, we are seeking problem solvers, passionate and collaborative teammates, and those willing to roll up their sleeves while making a difference. If you are interested in the opportunity to pursue purposeful work, join a mission-driven team, and build a rewarding career while having fun, Truveta may be the perfect fit for you.
This Opportunity
We are seeking a Principal Clinical Informaticist – Clinical Intelligence to join the Catalysts team.
Catalysts enables customers to unlock the full value of Truveta's data, products, and intelligence offerings through practical solutions, reusable assets, and customer-facing enablement.
In this role, you will help define how Truveta Intelligence understands and reasons about healthcare data, evidence generation, and analytical workflows. You will transform healthcare expertise into reusable intelligence capabilities that enable both users and AI systems to make better decisions at scale.
The primary focus of this role is developing reasoning frameworks, decision guides, and intelligence capabilities that improve how Truveta Intelligence interprets healthcare data and supports analytical workflows. These capabilities serve as the foundation for both AI experiences and human-facing guidance.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in healthcare data, clinical terminology, healthcare methodology, and hands-on analytical problem solving. They are comfortable moving between data exploration, methodological reasoning, and knowledge creation to improve how AI systems and users work with healthcare data. They enjoy simplifying complex topics, creating scalable knowledge systems, and shaping the future of AI-assisted healthcare analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical intelligence and reasoning frameworks
Identify high-value healthcare and analytical concepts that should be encoded into Truveta Intelligence.
Develop reasoning frameworks, decision guides, and intelligence capabilities that improve how AI systems interpret healthcare data and support analytical workflows.
Translate healthcare expertise into scalable capabilities that improve analytical consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.
Help define best practices for how Truveta Intelligence approaches healthcare and analytical challenges.
Continuously evaluate and improve intelligence capabilities based on adoption, performance, and user feedback.
Identify emerging opportunities where AI can accelerate healthcare analytics and evidence generation.
Example topic: How censoring should be handled in EHR-based research, including practical limitations, tradeoffs, and implementation considerations.
Healthcare data, terminology, and methodology
Serve as a subject matter expert on EHR and real-world healthcare data.
Use SQL, R, Python, and related tools to investigate healthcare data, validate assumptions, evaluate methodologies, and support intelligence development.
Develop guidance around healthcare data characteristics, limitations, and analytical tradeoffs.
Define and justify approaches for identifying clinical events, conditions, procedures, medications, and outcomes using healthcare data.
Apply clinical knowledge, healthcare terminology expertise, and practical EHR understanding to create robust and explainable approaches.
Provide expertise on ICD, SNOMED, CPT, HCPCS, LOINC, RxNorm, and related healthcare standards.
Help ensure intelligence capabilities reflect real-world healthcare data rather than idealized assumptions.
Establish practical best practices for healthcare data interpretation and evidence generation.
Product and intelligence partnership
Partner closely with Intelligence, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure healthcare expertise is effectively integrated into user experiences.
Identify gaps where clinical and healthcare expertise can improve AI capabilities and user outcomes.
Help prioritize future intelligence capabilities based on customer needs, observed limitations, and adoption signals.
Influence roadmap decisions through healthcare expertise, analytical evidence, and practical experience.
Measure the impact and usage of developed intelligence capabilities.
Act as a bridge between healthcare methodology, healthcare data, and AI capabilities.
Required Qualifications
Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, health services research, clinical informatics, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, healthcare analytics, or a related field.
8+ years of experience working with EHR, claims, registry, or other large-scale healthcare datasets.
Deep understanding of healthcare data, clinical workflows, healthcare terminology, and evidence generation methodologies.
Strong familiarity with ICD, SNOMED, CPT, HCPCS, LOINC, RxNorm, and related healthcare standards.
Experience working directly with healthcare data using SQL, R, Python, or similar analytical tools.
Ability to independently investigate healthcare data, validate assumptions, and evaluate methodological approaches.
Demonstrated ability to define, justify, and communicate approaches for identifying clinical events, conditions, procedures, medications, and outcomes.
Comfortable moving between conceptual reasoning and hands-on data exploration.
Experience teaching, mentoring, or translating complex healthcare concepts into practical guidance.
Demonstrated ability to independently identify, prioritize, and execute high-value initiatives.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience using generative AI and related tools to accelerate analytical, educational, or knowledge-management workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in clinical informatics, medical informatics, healthcare intelligence, healthcare knowledge management, or healthcare education.
Experience collaborating with Product, Engineering, or AI teams.
Experience evaluating how domain expertise can be translated into AI-assisted workflows.
Experience developing guidance around healthcare terminology, coding practices, healthcare data interpretation, or evidence generation methodologies.
Experience working with retrieval systems, knowledge systems, prompt engineering, AI evaluation, or related AI technologies.
Experience presenting and teaching complex healthcare concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience developing scalable approaches to knowledge transfer and expert enablement.
Experience creating analytical prototypes, validation studies, or exploratory analyses to evaluate healthcare data methodologies.
