Primary Purpose
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in sport assigned. Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:Bachelor’s degree from accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assignedDemonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
Ability to obtain a CDL with passenger, air brake and safety endorsements
Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of academic subject assignedGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students and supervise student athletesExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsGeneral knowledge of coaching techniques and proceduresKnowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
Ability to pass annual and random DOT physical/drug testing Ability to physically perform a front and back door bus evacuation
Ability to physically perform CPR and First Aid techniques on the ground or floor Ability to lift 30lbs Ability to maneuver effectively in a school bus
Capable of responding calmly in emergency situationsExperience:

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies:Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.Fulfill all coaching responsibilities and duties as assigned.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.Program Management:Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL rules.Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.Work with the athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings.
Drive bus to transport students safely and efficiently from one location to another when needed.
Report any mechanical problems with the bus or other district vehicles.Follow Frisco ISD Policies, State of Texas School Bus Driver Laws, and Texas CDL Laws.
Student Growth and Development:Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
Classroom/Student Management and Organization:Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town trips.Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Encourage by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.Communication:Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Administration:Assist in selection of equipment and instructional materials.Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within program.Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment.
Professional Growth and Development:Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Frequent district wide and statewide travel; frequent and prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun and heat. Moderate exposure to extreme temperature (hot) and vehicle fumes.
