Reports To: Director of Disability Services
Classification: Student Employee
Position Summary
The Test Proctor supports the Office of Disability Services by administering exams for students who are approved for testing accommodations. The Test Proctor ensures that exams are delivered in a secure, accessible, and distraction-reduced environment, consistent with institutional policies and federal disability law. This role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and strict confidentiality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Proctor exams for students with approved testing accommodations, including but not limited to extended time, reduced-distraction environments, acting as a scribe for the student. · Verify student identity and ensure testing materials and accommodations align with faculty-provided instructions and disability services guidelines. · Maintain exam integrity by monitoring testing sessions, enforcing testing rules, and preventing academic misconduct. · Accurately time exams. · Securely receive, distribute, and return exam materials to the Office of Disability Services in accordance with procedures. · Document testing irregularities, accommodation usage, and incidents, and report concerns promptly to Disability Services staff. · Prepare testing spaces before and after exams, ensuring accessibility and a distraction-reduced environment. · Maintain student confidentiality and comply with FERPA, ADA, Section 504, and university policies. · Assist with scheduling exams and communicating professionally with students, faculty, and staff as needed. · Provide general office support, including answering emails, managing appointments, assisting with departmental projects, answering phones, assist with copying, scanning and filing · Perform related duties as assigned to support the daily operations of the Office of Disability Services.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent. · Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. · Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. · Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor. · Ability to work independently and remain alert for extended periods. · Basic proficiency with computers and office technology.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
· Work is typically performed in designated testing rooms. · Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. · Work hours may vary based on exam schedules, including evenings or weekends during mid-terms and finals.
