The Public Safety Officer maintains a secure environment by conducting foot and mobile patrols, monitoring CCTV, and responding to emergency and non-emergency service calls. They also provide support to staff, assist in restraining patients when necessary, and complete detailed incident reports.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license. The role requires obtaining several certifications including CPI, IAHSS, CPR/AED, and defensive tactics within the first 180 days of employment.

Under the general supervision of the Public Safety Supervisor, the Public Safety Officer will work to maintain a secure and safe environment for faculty, staff, patients, visitors and property. Duties will include communication functions of the Public Safety Department, rotation and receipt of all emergency and non-emergency incoming calls to the dispatch center, solicits descriptive information to determine the nature and urgency of the request and the location and scope of the incident.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
