About the Role
As an Infant Teacher at Chesterbrook Academy, you will create a safe, nurturing, and responsive classroom where infants receive individualized care and meaningful opportunities to explore and develop. You will support each child’s physical, cognitive, language, sensory, and social-emotional growth through attentive caregiving, consistent routines, and developmentally appropriate interactions. You will also build trusted partnerships with families by communicating regularly about each infant’s care, routines, experiences, and developmental milestones.
You Will Also
Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate sensory, language, music, movement, and early-learning experiences
Provide attentive and responsive supervision throughout classroom activities, floor play, feedings, diapering, rest periods, and transitions
Follow each infant’s individualized feeding, diapering, and sleep schedule
Prepare and provide bottles, food, and snacks in accordance with family instructions, school policies, and licensing requirements
Follow all applicable safe-sleep practices and maintain an environment that supports infant health and safety
Support the development of secure attachments through warm, responsive, and consistent interactions
Encourage emerging communication, motor development, sensory exploration, and social-emotional growth
Observe and document daily care activities and developmental progress
Create classroom resources and maintain a physical environment that supports safe exploration and learning
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom, including the regular sanitization of toys, equipment, and learning materials
Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leaders to provide consistent, high-quality care
Communicate professionally with families regarding feedings, diapering, sleep, classroom experiences, and developmental milestones
Follow all school policies and applicable licensing requirements related to health, safety, sanitation, and student supervision
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; a completed Child Development Associate credential in Infant/Toddler care; or at least 30 hours of college credit, including a minimum of six hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, and one year of previous experience working in a licensed child care facility
Previous experience caring for infants in a licensed child care setting preferred
Knowledge of infant development, individualized care routines, and safe-sleep practices
A patient, nurturing, attentive, and highly responsive approach to infant care
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with families
Reliability, collaboration, and a commitment to providing high-quality care and education
Ability to successfully pass state and federal background checks
Compliance with all applicable state education and licensing standards
