Description
The PM Sanitation Shift Lead is responsible for leading and supporting the evening sanitation team to ensure that all factory equipment, production areas, utensils, floors, drains, and workspaces are properly cleaned and sanitized. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires the Shift Lead to assign duties, monitor employee performance, inspect completed work, maintain sanitation records, and ensure compliance with company food-safety and workplace-safety procedures.
The PM Sanitation Shift Lead is expected to work alongside the sanitation team as needed and ensure that the factory is clean, safe, organized, and ready for the next production shift.
Lead, direct, and support the PM sanitation team throughout the shift.
Assign daily sanitation duties and clearly communicate expectations to each team member.
Ensure all equipment, tools, utensils, production areas, floors, walls, drains, and other assigned areas are properly cleaned and sanitized.
Inspect completed work and require areas to be recleaned when sanitation standards are not met.
Verify that employees follow approved cleaning, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures.
Ensure cleaning chemicals are properly labeled, stored, diluted, and used according to manufacturer and company instructions.
Confirm that employees use all required personal protective equipment.
Train new and existing employees on sanitation procedures, chemical safety, equipment cleaning, and workplace-safety requirements.
Monitor employee attendance, productivity, work quality, and completion of assigned duties.
Address performance concerns professionally and report repeated concerns to management or Human Resources.
Complete and review sanitation logs, checklists, chemical records, and other required documentation.
Report equipment damage, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, chemical spills, injuries, and supply shortages immediately.
Ensure sanitation equipment and supplies are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained.
Coordinate with production and management regarding cleaning schedules and areas requiring additional attention.
Prevent cross-contamination by following established food-safety and allergen-control procedures.
Ensure employees do not begin cleaning equipment until it has been properly shut down and is safe to clean.
Maintain organized chemical-storage and sanitation-supply areas.
Participate in inspections, audits, and corrective-action procedures as required.
Follow and enforce all company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices, food-safety requirements, and workplace-safety procedures.
Work directly with the sanitation team when additional assistance is needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Provide employees with clear, respectful, and consistent instructions.
Lead by example by following all sanitation, safety, attendance, and conduct expectations.
Confirm that employees understand their assigned duties before work begins.
Follow up throughout the shift to ensure assignments are completed correctly and on time.
Correct sanitation concerns immediately and provide additional instruction when necessary.
Communicate incomplete work, employee concerns, and operational issues to management before leaving the facility.
Maintain professional communication with employees, supervisors, and other departments.
