The Sr. Commercial Product Manager will lead market discovery and develop go-to-market strategies to transition existing secure technologies into broader commercial sectors. This role involves building business cases, defining pricing and packaging models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure commercial readiness.
Requirements
Candidates must have 10+ years of experience in technology product management or commercialization with a proven track record of launching products into commercial markets. Strong strategic thinking, the ability to translate technical capabilities into business value, and experience operating in ambiguous environments are essential.
Full job description
Company Description
We were early to the fight against Ubiquitous Technical Surveillance, and we’ve been pushing the edge ever since.
Our mission is to help government and enterprise organizations understand and manage commercial data risks, shape their digital signatures, and operate with confidence in an increasingly complex information landscape. We build and integrate advanced, tech-forward solutions to problems our customers often don’t know they have – until it matters most.
We move fast, think critically, and deliver where it counts.
What’s in it for you?
We work hard and do fun things.
You’ll work on high-impact, technically challenging problems alongside a team that values teamwork over competition. Veilant offers a solid work-life balance and flexible remote work options. At Veilant, you’ll work with the most talented software developers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts, building tools and systems that make a real difference.
Job Description
Veilant builds secure digital software products for organizations operating in high-risk, high-stakes environments. Our solutions help protect communications, infrastructure, identity, and sensitive workflows for national security, defense, and regulated commercial sectors.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a proven commercial product leader to help us evaluate, position, and bring our technology into broader commercial markets.
About the Role
The Sr. Commercial Product Manager will be responsible for helping Veilant determine where our existing technologies can create meaningful commercial value. This is a new role, and it is ideal for someone who has successfully taken complex software products from concept, validation, or government use into commercial markets.
You will assess our current product portfolio, study market demand, identify viable commercial opportunities, evaluate pricing and packaging models, and develop a clear go-to-market launch plan. This person will help answer the most important question in this next stage of Veilant’s growth: where can our technology win commercially, and what will it take to get there?
This role requires a strategic thinker, a builder, and a proven product leader who can operate with ambiguity, translate technical capabilities into market value, and create a practical roadmap for commercialization.
What You’ll Accomplish in the First Six Months
Within the first six months, you will be expected to:
Assess Veilant’s current product portfolio and identify which technologies have the strongest commercial potential.
Conduct market research to define target industries, buyer personas, competitive alternatives, and unmet customer needs.
Evaluate product-market fit for secure communications, privacy applications, secure infrastructure, attribution management, and related technologies.
Recommend commercial positioning, pricing models, packaging options, and launch priorities.
Identify gaps in the current product, technology stack, supply chain, customer support model, or delivery approach that may need to be addressed before launch.
Develop a practical commercialization roadmap and launch plan for one or more products.
Partner with leadership, engineering, sales, and operations to determine what investments are needed to bring selected products to market successfully.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial market discovery for Veilant’s secure technology products.
Translate highly technical product capabilities into clear commercial value propositions.
Identify target markets such as regulated industries, enterprise security, critical infrastructure, privacy-focused organizations, and other relevant commercial sectors.
Analyze competitors, market trends, pricing benchmarks, customer needs, and barriers to adoption.
Build business cases for commercial product opportunities, including market size, revenue potential, investment needs, pricing strategy, and launch risks.
Define product positioning, packaging, pricing, and messaging in partnership with marketing and sales.
Develop go-to-market plans that include customer segments, sales channels, launch sequencing, partnerships, and success metrics.
Work with technical teams to determine what product enhancements or integrations may be required for commercial readiness.
Help shape the internal product management discipline for a new commercial growth function.
Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on how Veilant should prioritize commercial product investments.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a seasoned product commercialization leader who has brought complex technology products to market before. You should be comfortable entering a new role where the answers are not yet fully defined and building the strategy, structure, and plan from the ground up.
Must Haves
10+ years of technology product management, commercial product strategy, or product commercialization experience.
Proven track record of successfully launching technology products into commercial markets.
Strong ability to understand technical products and translate them into business value for commercial buyers.
Experience working with executive leadership to shape product strategy and investment decisions.
Demonstrated success operating in ambiguous or early-stage environments.
Ability to conduct market research, competitive analysis, customer discovery, and business case development.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders.
Experience building launch plans that connect product capabilities, market needs, sales motion, pricing, and operational readiness.
Nice to Haves
Experience in a startup, growth-stage, or zero-to-one product environment.
Background commercializing products originally developed for government, defense, national security, or highly regulated markets.
Experience with cybersecurity, secure communications, privacy technology, infrastructure, SaaS, enterprise software, or mission-critical technology.
Familiarity with regulated commercial sectors such as financial services, healthcare, legal, critical infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, or enterprise security.
Experience developing channel, partner, or enterprise sales strategies for complex technical solutions.
MBA or equivalent commercial strategy experience is a plus, but not required.
Who Will Thrive in This Role
You will thrive here if you are the kind of person who can look at a powerful technical capability and quickly determine who needs it, why they would buy it, how it should be packaged, what it should cost, and what has to be true for it to succeed in the market.
You are strategic, but practical. You can build a market thesis, pressure-test it with real customers, and convert it into a plan the company can execute. You are comfortable working across product, engineering, sales, marketing, finance, and leadership. Most importantly, you have done this before and can bring structure to a new commercial product function.
Success in This Role Looks Like
Veilant has a clear understanding of which products are commercially viable.
Leadership has a prioritized commercialization roadmap backed by market evidence.
Product positioning, pricing, and packaging recommendations are defined.
One or more launch plans are ready for execution.
Internal teams understand the product, buyer, market opportunity, and requirements for commercial success.
Veilant has a stronger foundation for scaling beyond government customers into commercial markets.
Additional Information
Why Join Veilant
This is an opportunity to shape a new commercial product function from the ground up. You will not simply inherit a roadmap — you will help define where Veilant goes next.
For the right person, this is a high-impact role with direct visibility to leadership and the opportunity to turn proven, mission-critical technologies into scalable commercial products.
