To achieve this vision, Beam has assembled a platform with integrated gene editing, delivery and internal manufacturing capabilities. Beam’s suite of gene editing technologies is anchored by base editing, a proprietary technology that is designed to enable precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This has the potential to enable a wide range of therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supporting all internal/external research programs.
Execute specimen preparation, staining and sample acquisition of flow cytometric data.
Perform cell sorting on BD FACS Melody, FACSAria Fusion or BD FACS Symphony S6.
Design, plan, and execute assay development and/or platform development within the core flow cytometry group and cross-functionally.
Perform flow data analyses and interpretation, and present data at group meetings.
Maintain electronic notebook record of performed experiments.
Provide basic training to researcher on various flow cytometers and cell sorters.
Evaluate and troubleshoot instrument issues.
Assist in coordinating core lab logistics (e.g. user scheduling, vendor/maintenance calls, etc.)
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) with five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience, or a master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) with two years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience, with degree fields in biology, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, biotechnology or a closely related field, and demonstrated experience in all of the following:
(a) performing high-parameter flow cytometry analyses of hematopoietic stem and immune cell subsets, and,
(b) designing and executing flow-based assay development for preclinical or translational research; and,
(c) conducting quantitative flow cytometry data analysis using FlowJo or FCS Express; and,
(d) troubleshooting instrument performance and coordinating maintenance; and,
(e) operating and maintaining high-parameter flow cytometers and cell sorters.
Does not require travel (role is substantially laboratory-based, in-house);
Not permitted to telecommute, i.e., cannot exclusively work remotely from home;
