Full job description
Shape the growth of some of Zip's most strategic merchant partnerships and help drive the next chapter of our commercial success.
Bring your expertise in strategic account management, commercial negotiations and executive stakeholder engagement to deliver meaningful business outcomes.
Hybrid working with team connection days in our Sydney office.
Write your story with a career at Zip
Our Merchant Growth team is responsible for building and growing long term partnerships with some of Australia's most recognised retailers and brands. By combining commercial expertise, strategic thinking and a deep understanding of our partners' businesses, we help merchants unlock growth while creating exceptional experiences for millions of Zip customers.
As a Strategic Account Manager, you'll take end to end ownership of a portfolio of strategic merchant partners, developing growth strategies that strengthen relationships, increase product adoption and deliver sustainable commercial outcomes. Working cross functionally across Zip, you'll influence business decisions, solve complex challenges and help shape the future of our merchant partnerships.
What you'll own
Own the growth, retention and commercial success of a portfolio of strategic merchant partners.
Develop and execute account and vertical strategies that drive revenue growth, customer acquisition and long term partnership success.
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders at every level, including senior executives and C suite decision makers.
Lead commercial negotiations that deliver value for both Zip and our merchant partners.
Identify opportunities to expand product adoption and grow the breadth of Zip's merchant partnerships.
Partner closely with Business Development, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Legal and other cross functional teams to deliver commercial objectives.
Lead regular business reviews with merchant partners, sharing insights, performance trends and strategic recommendations.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer behaviour to identify new opportunities and potential risks.
Champion Best Practice Integration standards, ensuring Zip branding and customer experiences are optimised while remaining compliant.
Drive scalable improvements across merchant processes, identifying opportunities to improve partner experience and commercial performance.
Collaborate with global sales teams to share insights, best practice and growth opportunities.
What you'll bring to the team
Zipsters work on a broad range of initiatives, and our skills and experiences all look a little different. What really matters to us is that you're a great fit with our four Values, and have a desire to learn and grow.
So whether you meet some or all of the desirable attributes below, we'd still love to hear from you.
Extensive experience managing strategic customer or merchant relationships within consumer, financial services, technology or payments businesses.
A proven track record of developing commercial partnerships that deliver sustainable revenue growth.
Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of payments, credit, ecommerce or retail markets.
Excellent relationship management, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and executive decision makers.
Experience developing and presenting compelling business cases supported by commercial insights.
Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into practical commercial recommendations.
Excellent planning, organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously.
Experience using presentation tools to communicate ideas and influence stakeholders.
A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
An aptitude for identifying and managing risks. Whether you are a People Manager or an Individual Contributor, we are all leaders at Zip, therefore effective risk management is important to how we run our business and part of all our roles.
Our values in your DNA. Customer First, Own It, Stronger Together and Change the Game.
What you’ll get in return
As we write this next exciting chapter in our story, we will continue to move at pace and embrace change. For you, this might mean opportunities to learn new skills with hands-on experience, broader responsibilities, or the buzz of seeing your work impact customers faster.
Zip is a place where you’ll get out exactly what you put in. When you join the team, we'll do our best to make sure you can be yourself and surround yourself with smart, friendly colleagues and leaders who have your back, so that you can make the big things happen.
Zipsters tell us these are just some of the best things about working here. You’ll also receive:
25 days paid leave annually, including birthday leave and quarterly wellbeing days

Access to the Flare Benefits Hub and Novated Leasing for savings across lifestyle, essentials and wellbeing
Fee-free Zip products, and discounts with Zip merchant partners (AU)
Team social events, epic offices, free breakfast daily, and weekly free lunches (Sydney and Melbourne)
