Responsibilities
Lead the China-based electronics hardware team to deliver high-quality products through strategic partnerships with JDM, ODM, and PCBA suppliers. Oversee the full product development lifecycle while ensuring technical standards for safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency are met.
Requirements
Requires a degree in a relevant electronics discipline and at least 10 years of experience in electronics hardware engineering. Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing complex supplier relationships within the Greater China electronics ecosystem is essential.
Full job description
About the role
Accountable for leading the China-based electronics hardware team across Shenzhen and Shanghai, delivering Dyson products across multiple categories in close partnership with regional JDM, ODM and PCBA partners. The role ensures robust electronics hardware solutions that meet Dyson’s expectations for performance, safety, reliability, quality, cost and speed of delivery.
Responsible for ensuring hardware deliverables from Dyson and external partners are mature, manufacturable and released on time, on cost and to specification for PCBA, electronics modules and related sub-assemblies across NPD and sustaining programmes.
Provide technical and organisational leadership to resolve complex electronics hardware issues, including product safety, EMC, reliability, quality, integration, supplier readiness and manufacturing maturity.
Set and deliver the strategy, priorities, goals and KPIs for a high-performing regional electronics hardware team, with clear focus on cross-category delivery, supplier leverage, design capability, development efficiency, cost discipline and continuous improvement.
Responsible for the professional development of all individuals within their team through providing coaching, mentoring and holding regular career conversations with individuals on their career aspirations and development plans.
Build capability and capacity across Shenzhen and Shanghai to support product delivery, sustaining, local engineering support and long-term programme needs, while identifying skill gaps and ensuring the wellbeing, performance and professional growth of each team member.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement in product safety, reliability, quality, cost down, development time reduction and supplier execution, ensuring learning is captured and reused across categories and partner engagements.
Establish strong communication and collaboration with HWPS leadership, Engineering, Category, Procurement, Quality and Operations teams to align priorities, remove delivery barriers and create a single Dyson voice with strategic suppliers in the region.
Support the HWPS leadership team in defining and executing the regional key supplier strategy, including identifying strategic JDM, ODM, PCBA and component partners, strengthening engagement models, and ensuring supplier capabilities are aligned with Dyson’s long-term product and technology roadmap.
Lead regional partner governance by setting clear expectations on technical ownership, design transparency, maturity reviews, issue escalation, validation evidence and delivery accountability across Dyson and supplier teams.
Report and ensure clear communication of the design status, ensuring the relevant system electronics design risks are clearly communicated to your peers and upwards.
Lead by example, setting high standard of work ethics.
Skills
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be an experienced engineering leader capable of operating with autonomy, leading regional teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality electronics hardware solutions. Experience across the full product development lifecycle—from concept and architecture definition through engineering, validation, manufacturing launch and sustaining—is essential. The role also requires strong supplier leadership experience, with the ability to work effectively with JDM, ODM, PCBA and component partners while protecting Dyson’s technical standards and delivery expectations.
Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in electronics hardware engineering, preferably with strong knowledge across power electronics, motor drive, battery management, analogue and digital electronics, sensing technologies, PCBA development and product integration.
Proven experience leading engineering teams across multiple locations, ideally including China-based teams and close collaboration with suppliers in the Greater China electronics ecosystem.
Strong experience working with JDM, ODM, PCBA or electronics module suppliers, including technical governance, design reviews, delivery management, quality issue resolution and supplier capability development.
Ability to contribute to regional supplier strategy, balancing delivery needs, technical capability, cost, quality, risk and long-term strategic partnership value.
