Senior Portfolio Manager
The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organisation's strategic objectives are translated into a coherent, prioritised, and executable portfolio of initiatives, products, programmes, and transformation projects. The role provides portfolio governance, strategic planning, demand management, investment prioritisation, resource optimisation, and executive reporting across the organisation's change agenda.
With an accountability to senior Business Services leadership team, the position serves as the central orchestrator to maximise value delivery while maintaining alignment with strategic priorities and organisational capacity. The Senior Portfolio Manager will serve as the primary portfolio management representative and is accountable for providing the executive leadership team with a consolidated view of strategic execution across the organisation.
Your role:
Portfolio Strategy & Governance
Maintain and continuously improve the portfolio management framework.
Translate strategic priorities into portfolio roadmaps and delivery plans.
Establish governance, decision-making forums, and escalation processes.
Ensure initiatives remain aligned with strategic objectives and expected outcomes.
Facilitate executive portfolio reviews and reporting.
Strategic Planning & Execution
Support strategic planning and execution.
Maintain a consolidated roadmap of strategic initiatives.
Drive cross-functional alignment across Business Services and Business Units.
Monitor portfolio performance, risks, dependencies, and benefits realisation.
Demand, Prioritisation & Investment Management
Lead demand intake, assessment, and prioritisation processes.
Evaluate initiatives based on value, risk, cost, complexity, and strategic alignment.
Recommend investment decisions, resource allocations, and portfolio trade-offs.
Support annual planning, budgeting, and investment exercises.
Capacity & Resource Management
Provide visibility on portfolio demand, capacity, and resource utilisation.
Identify bottlenecks, competing priorities, and resource constraints.
Optimise portfolio balance to maximise organisational throughput and value delivery.
Transformation Leadership
Lead strategic cross-functional transformation initiatives when required.
Manage interdependencies and resolve execution issues across programmes and projects.
Promote a culture of accountability and delivery excellence.
Executive Reporting & Portfolio Insights
Define portfolio KPIs, dashboards, and reporting standards.
Prepare executive and Board-level reporting.
Provide regular insights on portfolio health, strategic progress, risks, and business outcomes.
AI & Digital Enablement
Ensure portfolio alignment with the organisation’s AI strategy.
Promote automation and digital tools that enhance portfolio governance and reporting.
Leadership Responsibilities
Foster collaboration across business services teams.
Influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
Drive transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Act as a champion of strategic execution excellence.
No direct people management responsibilities or line reporting foreseen for this role.
Your Profile:
10+ years of experience in portfolio management,programmemanagement, strategy execution, consulting, transformation, or PMO leadership, including at least 5 years leading complex portfolios or major transformationprogrammes.
Proventrack recordengaging with Executive Committees, Boards, and C-level stakeholders on business and digital transformation initiatives; experience in professional services, financial services, consulting, legal services, or technology-driven environments is an advantage.
Strong command of strategic planning, portfolio governance, demand management,prioritisation, capacity planning, benefitsrealisation, and investment management.
Executive presence and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions without direct authority and strong facilitation and decision-making capabilities.
Data-driven and analytically minded, with solid financial analysis, risk assessment, and scenario planning skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to prepare executive presentations, Board papers, and strategic reports; fluent in English, with French considered a strong asset.
Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field; Portfolio,Programme, or Project Management certifications are an advantage.
