Full job description
Are you a highly accomplished Health & Safety leader who combines deep technical expertise with a genuine people-first approach?
Citycare Property is looking for a Safety & Wellness Manager to lead our safety and wellbeing strategy across Aotearoa.
This is an opportunity to shape safety culture at a national level, partnering with leaders across the business while influencing Executive and Board-level decision-making. We're seeking a seasoned Health & Safety professional who can hit the ground running, bringing proven experience from a similarly complex organisation and a track record of delivering measurable improvements in safety culture, organisational maturity, injury reduction and TRIFR performance.
You'll be equally comfortable presenting insights to the Board as you are engaging with teams on the ground. Most importantly, you'll combine technical excellence with the human touch – someone who builds trust, embraces challenges, delivers results, and brings great people vibes along the way.
Reporting to the Head of Safety, Quality and Risk, you'll lead a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and champion practical, values-led safety and wellbeing practices that help ensure our people get home safe every day.
What You’ll Be Doing | Ngā Kawenga Takohanga
Lead the development and delivery of Citycare Property's annual Safety and Wellness Plan.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety culture, wellbeing and operational performance.
Ensure our Health and Safety Management System remains robust, practical, compliant and fit for purpose.
Lead and mentor a national team of Safety and Wellness professionals.
Provide expert technical guidance on health, safety, wellness, risk and compliance matters.
Oversee safety assurance programmes, audits, investigations and corrective actions.
Partner with leaders to strengthen engagement, accountability and safe work practices.
Lead wellbeing initiatives, health monitoring programmes, communications and awareness campaigns.
Manage relationships with WorkSafe, ACC, external auditors and other key stakeholders.
Deliver insightful reporting to Executive Leadership and the Board, using data to drive informed decision-making
What You’ll Bring to the Table | Ngā Mea ka Mauria e Koe ki te Rūnanga:
7–10+ years' Health & Safety experience, including senior leadership roles within complex, multi-site or high-risk environments.
Proven success delivering measurable improvements in safety culture, organisational maturity, injury rates and TRIFR performance.
Experience preparing and presenting safety performance reporting, insights and recommendations to Executive and Board-level stakeholders.
Demonstrated success developing and implementing health, safety and wellbeing strategies that drive meaningful organisational change.
Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Risk Management, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
Professional membership and/or certifications such as HASANZ, NZISM, ICAM or other relevant industry accreditations are highly regarded.
Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements, combined with excellent investigation, assurance and risk management capability.
A people-focused, influential leader who combines technical expertise with the ability to build trust, challenge constructively, drive results and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Join a team where people and their safety are at the heart of everything we do.
Competitive salary and opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.
