The Admissions Specialist serves as the primary contact for individuals seeking treatment, guiding them through the intake and eligibility process. They are responsible for verifying insurance, conducting assessments, and coordinating with treatment teams to ensure a smooth transition into outpatient programs.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or associate degree and hold a valid California drug and alcohol counselor certification (e.g., CADC, RADT). Experience in substance use disorder admissions and familiarity with Medi-Cal guidelines are highly preferred.

We are actively seeking an Admissions Specialist within our substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment intensive outpatient program. As an essential member of our team, the Admissions Specialist plays a vital role in helping individuals navigate the complex landscape of seeking treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders.
Position Overview
The Admissions Specialist acts as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking help within our program, whether they contact us via phone, website chat or form submissions. Their primary responsibility is to guide prospective clients through the admissions and intake process, ensuring a smooth and compassionate transition into our intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient (OP) programs. The Specialist's role is multi-faceted and involves assessing individuals for eligibility, verifying insurance coverage/eligibility, conducting the intake process and completing all intake forms, and coordinating appropriate next steps according to State and County requirements. The Specialist may also carry a caseload of clients.
The role of an Admissions Specialist within our outpatient substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment intensive outpatient program is a challenging yet rewarding one. By effectively guiding individuals through the admissions and intake process, the Specialist plays a pivotal role in helping individuals access the treatment they need to embark on their recovery journey. Roots Through Recovery has been providing trauma-focused outpatient treatment in Long Beach since 2016. We offer dedicated morning and afternoon tracks for both primary mental health and primary substance abuse, provided by an experienced and compassionate clinical team of physicians, clinical psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists and drug and alcohol counselors. Our program integrates EMDR, mindfulness, and other cognitive, process, experiential, and expressive therapies to heal the mind, body and spirit. The goal of this approach is to address unresolved trauma, expose our clients to a variety of tools, and help them to develop the skills needed to live a healthy, productive and fulfilling life in recovery. Roots also provides all of our clients with weekly case management, weekly family therapy, as well as monthly family intensive weekends. For clients who are in need of housing, we work with affordable sober livings in the area, including our affiliate housing program, The Arbors Sober Living Community. Roots is in-network with MHN/Health Net, Tricare, HMC Healthworks, Multiplan and First Health.
