We help healthcare organizations build innovation capabilities and accelerate key growth initiatives, enabling organizations to own the future, instead of being disrupted by it. Together, we empower clients to create sustainable growth, optimize internal processes and deliver better consumer outcomes.
Health systems, hospitals and medical clinics are under immense pressure to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the cost of providing patient care. Investing in new partnerships, clinical services and technology is not enough to create meaningful and substantive change. To succeed long-term, healthcare organizations must empower leaders, clinicians, employees, affiliates and communities to build cultures that foster innovation to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
Joining the Huron team means you’ll help our clients evolve and adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare environment and optimize existing business operations, improve clinical outcomes, create a more consumer-centric healthcare experience, and drive physician, patient and employee engagement across the enterprise.
Join our team as the expert you are now and create your future.
Huron is a global professional services firm committed to helping healthcare organizations achieve sustainable, measurable results through strategy, technology, operations, and analytics. Our Digital practice partners with healthcare clients to design, implement, and optimize secure, scalable integration solutions that support clinical, operational, and financial workflows.
Position Summary Huron is seeking a Digital Technical Specialist – Associate / Senior Associate with a dual focus on integration development and project management. This role is ideal for a technically strong integration developer who can also effectively plan, coordinate, and lead integration workstreams or small-to-mid-sized projects within complex healthcare environments.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on integration engine experience, deep knowledge of healthcare data exchange standards, strong SQL skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage timelines, scope, stakeholders, and delivery. Experience working within or supporting Epic, Oracle Health (Cerner), and/or MEDITECH environments is required.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Development & Technical Delivery
Design, develop, test, implement, and support HL7, FHIR, and API-based integrations across healthcare systems
Build and maintain interfaces using industry-standard integration platforms such as Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, Corepoint, Mirth Connect, InterSystems (Ensemble / IRIS), or comparable engines
Develop and support real-time and batch interfaces including ADT, orders, results, charges, scheduling, and master file updates
Analyze interface requirements, source/target specifications, and data mappings to translate business and clinical needs into technical solutions
Troubleshoot complex integration issues across upstream and downstream systems, ensuring data integrity and reliability
Support data extraction, transformation, and reconciliation using SQL and related tools
Contribute to integration-related activities tied to EHR implementations, upgrades, migrations, and conversions
Create and maintain technical documentation, interface specifications, data mappings, and operational runbooks
Project Management & Workstream Leadership
Serve as integration project manager or workstream lead for assigned initiatives
Develop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, and dependencies for integration efforts
Coordinate tasks across internal team members, client stakeholders, and third-party vendors
Track status, risks, issues, and mitigation plans; proactively escalate when needed
Lead or support integration testing cycles, cutover planning, and go-live readiness
Facilitate regular status meetings and provide clear, concise client-facing updates
Ensure delivery aligns with scope, quality standards, timelines, and client expectations
Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time as required per client demands.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Healthcare industry experience (required), including hospital, health system, or healthcare IT consulting environments
Hands-on experience with one or more integration engines / platforms, such as:
Cloverleaf
Rhapsody
Corepoint
Mirth Connect
InterSystems Ensemble or IRIS
Or comparable integration technologies
Strong working knowledge of HL7 (v2.x required; v3 preferred)
Experience with FHIR, RESTful APIs, and modern interoperability patterns
Understanding of USCDI, interoperability regulations, and healthcare data standards
Strong SQL skills, including querying, troubleshooting, and data validation
Experience supporting or integrating with one or more major EHR platforms:
Epic
Oracle Health (Cerner)
MEDITECH
Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, deliver independently, and operate effectively in ambiguous or fast-paced environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
Prior experience acting as a project manager, technical lead, or workstream lead for integration initiatives
Experience with healthcare regulatory or compliance-driven integrations (e.g., public health reporting, registries, HIEs)
Consulting experience in a client-facing role
Experience mentoring junior integration analysts or developers
What We Look For at Huron
Self-starters who take ownership of both technical delivery and project outcomes
