Under the direction of the Vice President, Service Line Operations, the Assistant Vice President, Cardiovascular Services provides enterprise leadership for the strategic, operational, clinical quality, and growth agenda of the cardiovascular service line across the organization.
The position will be a remote/hybrid role with overnight travel by land and/or air is expected to be in the 25-50% range. Travel can include onsite visits to Brentwood, TN and other Lifepoint facilities.
This executive leader partners with hospital, market, physician, and system leaders to advance a high-performing, integrated cardiovascular platform that improves access, quality outcomes, patient experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance across the continuum of care.
Enterprise leadership and subject matter expertise for cardiovascular services across inpatient, outpatient, procedural, diagnostic, and ambulatory settings
Strategic planning and execution for cardiovascular growth, service line expansion, market differentiation, and network development
Oversight of cardiovascular quality, safety, accreditation readiness, registry performance, and clinical performance improvement initiatives
Development of enterprise standards, operating models, scorecards, and best practices to drive consistency and measurable results across markets
Physician partnership and executive collaboration to strengthen program performance, care redesign, access, and referral optimization
Financial stewardship, including business planning, capital prioritization, productivity optimization, and supply and implantable utilization oversight
Leadership of enterprise committees, governance structures, and cross-functional initiatives that support cardiovascular program development and operational excellence
Education, coaching, and executive consultation for market and hospital leaders to advance cardiovascular capabilities and results
How you’ll contribute
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Leads the enterprise cardiovascular service line strategy, translating organizational priorities into multi-year plans, annual operating goals, and measurable performance expectations.
Partners with executive, physician, clinical, operational, and market leaders to design and implement a comprehensive cardiovascular service line model across the continuum of care.
Establishes enterprise governance, performance standards, and scorecards for cardiovascular quality, safety, patient experience, throughput, growth, and financial results.
Directs service line analytics and performance improvement efforts using data, registries, benchmarks, and market intelligence to identify opportunities and drive results.
Develop business cases, pro formas, and strategic recommendations for new programs, geographic expansion, capital investments, technology adoption, and capability advancement.
Provides executive oversight for accreditation readiness, regulatory alignment, registry optimization, and adoption of evidence-based standards and leading practices
Collaborates with supply chain, finance, and operational leaders on implantable and supply utilization, capital planning, vendor strategy, and cost optimization initiatives.
Serve as the executive sponsor and subject matter expert for enterprise cardiovascular initiatives, due diligence activities, integration planning, and service line development across markets.
Builds collaborative relationships and influences outcomes across a matrixed environment, including hospital executives, physician leaders, market teams, and corporate partners.
Leads, mentors, and develops leaders and teams in support of service line priorities, operational excellence, and sustained organizational capability.

What we’re looking for
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in healthcare, nursing, life sciences or business from an accredited school. Additional requirements include:
Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
Clinical degree/certification/licensure such as Licensed Registered Nurse or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive healthcare experience, including significant leadership responsibility in cardiovascular services, service line operations, program development, or related clinical and operational environments.
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in complex hospitals, market, or health system settings, with demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and large-scale change.
Experience working in multi-site or multi-state healthcare systems is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success partnering with physicians, hospital executives, and clinical leaders to improve quality, operations, growth, and financial performance.
Demonstrated knowledge of cardiovascular registries, accreditation standards, quality metrics, and performance reporting, including experience with ACC, NCDR, STS, or comparable data sources and benchmarks.
Current clinical licensure or certification, if applicable to educational background, is preferred.
Relevant cardiovascular, quality, or healthcare leadership certifications are preferred.
Executive-level strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
Strong financial, operational, and analytical acumen, including business planning, capital evaluation, and performance management.
Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed organization and build alignment across executives, physicians, and operational stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of cardiovascular service line operations, quality frameworks, accreditation expectations, and growth strategies.
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and executive communication skills.
Strong project and change management capabilities with a proven ability to lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
Advanced critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to coach leaders, foster collaboration, and drive accountability for results.
Track record of achieving quality, operational, growth, and financial objectives in complex healthcare environments.
