The Certified Sterile Processor performs duties related to the receiving, inspecting, preparing, and delivering of surgical instruments and equipment. They also participate in quality improvement activities while ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and hold a current certification as a Central Service Technician. Additionally, one year of experience in sterile processing of instruments is required.
Performs a variety of duties in sterile processing to assist the surgical team. Assignments include, but are not limited to, receiving, inspecting, preparing, storing, and delivering supplies, instruments, and equipment. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. Works under the direct supervision of a departmental director/manager or designee who assigns, instructs, and evaluates work for conformance to prescribed procedures and techniques.
