The dispatcher is responsible for managing law enforcement resources, monitoring security cameras and alarm systems, and issuing critical incident notifications. They also handle radio traffic and manage both emergency and non-emergency phone lines.
Candidates must possess at least two years of relevant experience in public safety dispatch or security systems and hold or be able to obtain TCOLE, TLETS, and TCIC/NCIC certifications. A background investigation based on CJIS standards is mandatory for this role.
Do you have a call to serve others and want to work for an organization with a mission to help? LCRA is looking for a Public Safety Dispatcher to join our team. As part of LCRA's Public Safety Dispatch team, we are focused on securing critical infrastructure and enforcing laws on the waterways and lands of the LCRA. Your work will focus on three primary functions – dispatching internal resources (law enforcement and security officers), security monitoring (cameras and alarms), and sending notifications to staff about critical incidents. We do not take domestic calls, 911, or EMD. While still very busy, we are quite different from a typical 911 center. We don’t schedule by tenure. Everyone rotates shifts and holiday work preferences fairly. We operate on 12 hour shifts. This position is part time and will primarily consist of providing floating coverage for time off and working 2 weekend shifts approximately every other weekend. LCRA exists to serve the people of Texas. It’s been that way since the state Legislature created us in 1934. We continue that legacy today by providing a multitude of vital services to our customers and communities. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve through water stewardship, energy and community service. LCRA produces and delivers electric power, manages the lower Colorado River and provides a reliable water supply, manages a public parks system and supports community development. We are funded by revenue we generate, the vast majority of which comes from generating and transmitting electricity. A very small portion of our revenue comes from selling water. We do not receive state appropriations or have the ability to levy taxes. We have deep roots in Texas, dating as far back as the Great Depression of the 1930s. We built the chain of dams that tamed the Colorado River and brought power to rural Central Texas for the first time.
