Full job description
Join DayOne – Shaping the Future of Data Infrastructure
DayOne is a global leader in the development and operation of high-performance data centers. As one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, we’ve built a robust presence across Asia and Europe — and we’re just getting started.
As we expand into new international markets, we’re looking for talented, driven individuals to join us on this exciting journey. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to be a key contributor to our dynamic team and help shape the future of global data infrastructure.
If you're passionate about innovation, technology, and growth, we invite you to be part of DayOne’s next chapter.
About DayOne
Behind every app, every AI tool, every connected experience, there is a data center. DayOne builds them. In Japan, we build them to the standard this market demands. DayOne is developing an 80MW hyperscale campus at Fuchu Intelligent Park, 30 kilometres west of central Tokyo, set to be among the largest IT capacity deployments in the city when it opens in 2028. Backed by US US$4.5B+ in Series C funding and operating across seven countries, our entry into Japan is a long-term commitment built on precision and reliability.
Why DayOne
At DayOne Japan, technical excellence is the foundation everything is built on. You will work on infrastructure held to the highest standards of precision and reliability, with a clear path for development: structured training, meaningful scope, and career progression that is earned and respected. We are building here for the long term and growing the people who will carry that forward.
What You Will Own
Construction & Development
Lead end-to-end delivery of DayOne's data center development — from site development and design through commissioning and handover.
Drive project schedules, budgets, and quality standards; hold GCs and engineering partners accountable to milestones.
Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, utilities, and regulatory bodies to ensure permits, grid access, and compliance — particularly critical in Japan's complex power procurement environment.
Embed a culture of safety across all construction sites that reflects DayOne's values and meets the highest international standards.
Operations
Oversee day-to-day operations of live data center facilities, ensuring maximum uptime, SLA compliance, and customer satisfaction — meeting DayOne's standard of precision-engineered performance.
Build and scale the Japan operations team; recruit, develop, and retain the talent that will define DayOne Japan's culture.
Implement and continuously improve operational processes, leveraging the latest innovations in data center technology — from advanced cooling systems to software-driven uptime management.
Business & P&L
Own Japan's full P&L — revenue, cost management, and margin accountability. You are the senior decision-maker in market.
Act as DayOne's primary point of contact for hyperscale customers and strategic partners in Japan; resolve escalations, deepen relationships, and exceed expectations.
Collaborate with the CEO and global leadership on Japan's pipeline strategy, land acquisition, and long-term growth roadmap — positioning Japan as a cornerstone of DayOne's APAC network.
Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and technology developments to inform business decisions and stay ahead of Japan's rapidly evolving digital infrastructure landscape.
What We Are Looking For
Experience
15+ years of experience in data center construction, development, or critical infrastructure — with meaningful time in a senior leadership role with full P&L or budget accountability.
Proven track record delivering large-scale construction or development projects on time and within budget. You have built something significant and can show it.
Deep familiarity with the Japan market — local authority relationships, utility negotiations, permitting processes, and the nuances of operating in Japan's business environment.
Experience building and leading cross-functional teams that include contractors, engineering partners, and vendors across complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Leadership & Character
Entrepreneurial mindset — you thrive in lean, fast-moving environments where you can make decisions and see results. You do not need a committee to move.
Results-oriented and hands-on. You set the standard by doing, not just directing.
Strong communicator and influencer — equally effective with site teams, hyperscaler C-suites, Japanese government officials, and DayOne's global leadership.
Bilingual in Japanese and English (written and spoken). Based in Japan or willing to relocate.
A passion for building something lasting — DayOne's mission of sustainable, zero-carbon data center infrastructure is not just a strategy; it is how we build.
DayOne is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
If you're ready to grow with one of the fastest-moving companies in the data center industry, apply now and be part of our global journey.
DayOne is a data center pioneer that develops and operates next-gen digital infrastructure for industry leaders who demand reliable, cost-effective and quickly scalable solutions.
Our cutting-edge facilities empower hyperscalers and large enterprises to achieve rapid deployment and enhance connectivity, driving transformative engagement and innovation as we shape the future of industries. DayOne's data centers are located across key markets, including Singapore, Johor (Malaysia), Batam (Indonesia), Greater Bangkok, Hong Kong SAR, Tokyo, and beyond.
Headquartered in Singapore, DayOne’s leadership team draws on over two decades of industry experience and a track record of building Asia's largest data center business. With DayOne, they have created the SIJORI (Singapore, Johor, and Riau Islands) market as a global data center hub.
As demand for strategically located and customized data centers rises, DayOne's entrepreneurial spirit, customer-first strategy, deep local partnerships, and agile executional capabilities uniquely position us to power the growth ambitions of leading hyperscalers and large enterprises around the world.
