Lead and support target validation and mechanism-of-action assay development activities for Parkinson's disease research. Execute complex in vitro experiments using cell lines, primary neurons, and iPSC-derived models while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
Requires a Ph.D. with 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in neuroscience or related fields. Must possess deep expertise in cell culture, biochemical assays, and independent experimental design.
Full job description
Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.
Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Scientist I to join our Neuroscience research team. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our efforts to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets for Parkinson’s disease. You will develop and apply complex cellular models and biochemical and cell-based assays to advance target validation and deepen our understanding of disease-relevant mechanisms. This is a highly collaborative, laboratory-focused role with the opportunity to work across disciplines and research sites, partnering with cellular and molecular biologists, in vivo pharmacologists, medicinal chemists, and other scientific colleagues to advance our neuroscience research programs.
About You
You are a collaborative and rigorous scientist who enjoys solving complex biological questions at the bench. You bring deep expertise in cellular and biochemical approaches and are comfortable independently designing, executing, and interpreting experiments while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. You thrive in a fast-paced research environment and enjoy translating scientific questions into well-designed experiments that can inform target validation and mechanism of action. You are an effective communicator and teammate who values scientific rigor, thoughtful collaboration, and the opportunity to support and develop more junior scientists. An interest in Parkinson’s disease and neurodegenerative biology, and in applying your expertise to drug discovery, will position you well for success in this role.
What You’ll Do
Lead and support target validation and mechanism-of-action (MOA) assay development activities.
Execute in vitro experiments in cell lines, primary neurons, iPSC-derived neurons, and glia culture.
Build and execute biochemical and cell-based assays to support novel Parkinson’s disease target validation.
Collaborate with and support cellular and molecular biologists, in vivo pharmacologists, and medicinal chemists across research sites.
Support the training and guidance of junior research associates and interns, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in Parkinson’s disease research by attending relevant conferences and workshops.
Contribute to the preparation of research publications, presentations, and grant proposals, showcasing the team’s contributions to the field.
Maintain organized and comprehensive records of experiments, results, and protocols in adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
Uphold a culture of safety by strictly following laboratory protocols and promoting best practices in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications
Postdoc Fellowship plus 2 years of relevant experience or Ph.D. plus 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree plus 14 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree plus 16 years of relevant experience in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline.
Highly proficient in cell culture techniques, including primary neurons and glia.
Proficiency with standard cell biology, biochemistry, enzymology, and neuroscience techniques, including confocal microscopy/high-content imaging, protein detection and quantification (such as ELISA and MSD), and enzyme kinetic assays.
Extensive bench research experience and enjoyment of a laboratory-focused role in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.
Ability to design, execute, and interpret experiments independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills paired with a strong work ethic.
Experience in iPSC-derived cells and/or complex co-culture model systems is preferred.
At Eikon, employee compensation also includes bonus and equity compensation, in addition to several generous benefit programs, including:
401k plan with company matching

Generous paid time off and holiday policies
Life/AD&D Insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%) and optional supplemental employee-paid life/AD&D policies
Enhanced parental leave benefit
Daily subsidized lunch program when on-site
The expected salary range for this role is $143,000 to $173,250 depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.

Eikon Therapeutics is a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company advancing a pipeline of potential therapies for patients with unmet medical needs. We are passionate about novel therapeutics and share the belief that a better understanding of fundamental human disease biology can lead to better medicines. We are driven to go beyond incremental improvements. Instead, our goal is to introduce new therapies into clinical practice that will improve and extend life. Our clinical programs in oncology leverage immune response modulation and synthetic lethality to improve cancer therapy, while our discovery efforts are focused on identifying novel targets through application of single-molecule imaging to the study of cancer and neurological diseases. By applying machine learning algorithms to the very large imaging data sets that emerge from our imaging platforms, we can advance our programs towards our ultimate goal of discovering and developing better medicines.
Eikon is seeking intellectually curious, passionate, and creative team members that are eager to apply their talents to empower interdisciplinary scientific exploration and ultimately create and develop novel medicines.
