Overview

Maintenance Technician G2 is a second-level technician. This individual is required to meet all the expectations as defined in Level G1, & G2 Key Result Expectations as well as the elevated expectations as defined in the Key Result Expectations for Level G5 to maintain this position. The following minimum expectations will be reviewed at your 90 review. These expectations are listed to help you focus on the preliminary expectations to maintain the level of Class G5 maintenance team member. You may be assigned a specific focus area based on the plant needs at the time and will be supplied with a focus list that will be used during your initial 90 day evaluation.  We do encourage you to master the listed Key Result Expectations as they will be reviewed at your 90-day review. Additional efforts and skill applications are always welcome.

Responsibilities

Level G1 Key Result Expectations

 

1. Completes individual lockout / tagout training and demonstrates they can identify the lock locations for a particular machine, physically follow the lockout procedure, and apply the appropriate lockout devices defined by the procedure.
2. Follows all safety protocols and wears appropriate PPE at all times.
3. Follows directions, verbal or written for basic assembly and repair of equipment.
4. Assists other maintenance techs on projects and rebuilds.
5. Learns the locations and proper descriptions of lines and equipment.
6. Learn to locate parts in the parts room and sign out correctly.
7. Completes paperwork for checklists, work orders, and other documentation as required.
8. Learns to enter and complete work orders in the computerized maintenance management system.
9. Performs repair work on production equipment, processing equipment, and buildings/grounds as assigned.
10. Initiates work efforts independently, when possible, to complete assigned tasks.Willing to work regular shift hours, off-shift hours, overtime, and be on call as needed.Perform other duties when requested by the Maintenance Supervisor and or Lead Mechanic when the need arises.

 Level G2 Key Result Expectations

1. Starts and safely stops key equipment, this includes carton erector, filler, packing robot, conveyors, labelers, and carton closers but may include additional support equipment.
2. Adjust box erectors/closers for specific carton sizes and produce usable cartons.
3. Disassembles and reassembles filler pumps using the correct O-rings.
4. Remove and install the cup dropper where applicable.
5. Changes lidding roll and threads onto the machine in the correct path. (52MM)
6. Installs and removes heater assemblies correctly, including proper alignment and attaching thermocouple assemblies in their correct locations where applicable.
7. Installs and removes lid knife assemblies correctly, including proper alignment. (52MM)
8. Understands the fundamental operation of the pick-and-place robots.
9. Makes minor adjustments to the carton divider inserter ( MGS).
10. Starts or stops inkjet coding systems and can align printer head in proper location.
11. Performs PM duties as assigned following written PM document with minor supervision.
12. Interprets basic machine diagrams to identify needed parts and or assemblies.
13. Rebuilds heater and cup dropper assemblies as needed.
14. Uses a Multimeter and or Amp probe to detect the presence or absence of power.
15. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Lead.

Level G3 Key Result Expectations

 

1. Operates all packaging equipment at the production level of operation.
2. Changes package selection on packing robots for different product sizes.
3. Interprets complex wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings to facilitate repairs.
4. Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical equipment in assigned areas.
5. Troubleshoot 3-phase motor controls and perform repairs as required.
6. Replace and wire three-phase and single-phase motors correctly.
7. Troubleshoot and repair electrical control issues as they arise.
8. Uses Input and Output indications on a PLC to diagnose and repair peripheral components assigned to those inputs and outputs.
9. Fabricates and or modifies mechanical components for equipment.
10. Performs minor stick or TIG welds to repair damaged components.
11. Performs complete line changeovers as product demand dictates.

Level G4 Key Result Expectations

 

1. Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance projects which include new equipment installs and rebuilds when assigned.
2. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues in all production equipment.
3. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in all production equipment.
4. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair advanced pneumatic and control issues in the processing area.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret CIP piping circuits and information feedback devices by looking at operator interface screens, direct observation, and schematics to determine and resolve issues.
6.  Demonstrated ability to rebuild pumps and or replace pump motors when required.
7. Demonstrated ability to perform advanced fabrication and sanitary welds when required.
8. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot using a laptop with PLC software. NOTE: access to any machine with a laptop requires permission from Maintenance Supervision or the Maintenance Manager. This includes hooking the laptop to a PLC, opening the program, establishing communication with the PLC, and navigating the program without making changes to verify operation. At a minimum, the above conditions must be met using Allen Bradley software.

Level G5 Key Result Expectations

 

1. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues with the HVAC systems.
2. Attends and passes Ammonia Operator 1 training.
3. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues with the Ammonia system.
4. Possesses complete operational knowledge of the wastewater system including system control, waste flows, standard conditions, and chemical additions.
5. Demonstrates ability to replace and commission faulty Allen Bradley drives.
6. Demonstrates ability to lead Maintenance Team activities in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.

 

Qualifications

Preliminary Qualifications

To be qualified for the Maintenance Technician level G2 level and eventually with training and certifications operate at a G5 level.

The Employee must comply with all safety policies and safe work procedures established by the company. Job tasks may also involve:    

Using personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, hearing protection, protective clothing, and other equipment as established in company policies and safe work procedures.

Working with cutting & machining fluids, solvents, lubricants, and other hazardous chemicals using appropriate safety controls.

Lifting/moving objects up to 50 pounds in weight

Frequent carrying, bending, standing, sitting, and repetitive motion.

Levels of noise greater than 60 decibels requiring hearing protection

Smells or odors from Spices, ingredients, or cleaning chemicals
