Job Summary
Langan has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Engineer – Site Civil/Construction Administration to join its collaborative team in Austin, TX. This individual will lead and support construction-phase services for site/civil engineering projects, ensuring that design intent is accurately executed in the field. This role serves as the primary point of contact for contractor coordination during construction and is responsible for timely review of submittals, response to RFIs, and field verification of site work.This position requires a strong civil engineering background with the ability to interpret construction documents, communicate effectively with contractors and clients, and proactively identify and resolve issues during construction.
Job Responsibilities
Construction Administration Leadership
Serve as the lead civil engineering representative during construction for assigned projects;
Coordinate with project managers, design teams, and contractors to support construction-phase activities; and
Maintain consistent communication with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Submittal & Shop Drawing Review
Review contractor submittals (shop drawings, product data, samples) for conformance with construction documents;
Track submittals and ensure timely turnaround to maintain project schedules; and
Identify deviations from design intent and provide clear, concise review comments.
Requests for Information (RFI) Management
Prepare and issue responses to RFIs related to civil/site design;
Interpret construction documents and provide clarifications to resolve field conflicts; and
Maintain RFI logs and coordinate with internal teams to ensure consistency across responses.
Field Observations & Site Visits
Conduct periodic site visits to observe construction progress and verify compliance with plans;
Identify potential issues early and work with the contractor to implement corrective actions; and
Document observations and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
Punch List & Project Closeout
Perform punch walks to identify incomplete or non-conforming work;
Verify completion of punch list items and support project closeout activities; and
Coordinate with owners and contractors to ensure successful project turnover.
Design Support During Construction
Provide clarifications or minor revisions to drawings as needed to address field conditions;
Collaborate with design teams to resolve conflicts between disciplines; and
Ensure consistency between issued drawings and construction-phase updates.
Coordination & Meetings
Participate in construction coordination meetings as needed to support active issues;
Communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, MEP, etc.); and
Support project managers in maintaining schedule, budget, and quality during construction.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or related field required;
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred;
10+ years of site/civil engineering experience, with a strong portion in construction-phase services;
Experience supporting land development, infrastructure, or data center projects preferred; and
Demonstrated experience with submittal review, RFI response, and field observation.
