Integral Blue is seeking a highly skilled Instructional Designer to develop training programs that enable our field operations team to succeed in using and supporting our systems, tools, and processes. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining training documentation, designing evaluations to measure effectiveness, and ensuring consistency and quality in technical knowledge transfer across the organization's field teams. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and passionate about empowering others through education.
This position will work out of Integral Blue’s Auburn Hills Michigan office Monday through Friday with occasional remote work flexibility. Additionally, periodic field visits (shops, job sites, etc.) to observe processes and capture accurate information will be required.

Key Responsibilities:
Training Program Design & Development. Design and develop engaging, scalable training programs tailored to employees at various technical levels. Maintain up to date training content that reflects new technologies, standards, and best practices.
Training Documentation. Create and maintain comprehensive training materials, including manuals, standard operating procedures (SOP), guides, checklists, and multimedia content. Ensure documentation is standardized, accurate, and easily accessible for reference. Collaborate with Human Resource (HR) Department to assess utilizing the Learning Management System (LMS) as a tool for online and hybrid training.
Knowledge Translation & Communication. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SME’s) to translate technical concepts into clear, user-friendly materials. Promote knowledge sharing across teams through best-practice documentation and job aids.
Performance Tracking & Reporting. Track and report training completion rates, competency levels, and certification progress. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on training effectiveness and workforce readiness.
Training Needs Assessment. Partner with managers and technical leads to identify training gaps, emerging technologies, and evolving workforce needs. Recommend improvements or new training modules based on field feedback and performance data.
Training Logistics & Coordination. Manage training schedules, enrollment, and logistics across multiple teams and locations. Coordinate with supervisors to minimize operational disruption while achieving training goals and requirements.
Workforce Development & Mentorship. Serve as a mentor and technical resource for field technicians, fostering skill growth and career development. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Safety & Compliance Training. Ensure all training aligns with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company standards. Integrate safety compliance topics into both classroom and field training.
Qualifications Desired:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, Instructional Design, or related field (or equivalent experience);
1+ years of experience in technical writing, instructional design, or technical documentation.
Strong technical background with the ability to quickly learn and teach new systems;
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt to different learning styles;
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), training software, and content development tools; and
Strong operational and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in developing SOPs and operational training for technical or field-based teams;
Ability to design interactive, scenario-based, and blended learning experiences;
Experience with Bookstack, or a similar wiki/knowledge base application; and
Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), fiber optics, low voltage systems, and technical field work.
Health and Safety:
Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and safety regulations related to equipment operation, electric currents, traffic patterns and conditions and other work-related precautions to include basic first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR);
Ability to complete an OSHA 30 Hour Safety Training program, and obtain an OSHA 30-Hour Safety Card;
Demonstrate a strong commitment to grow and foster a culture of safety by upholding standards and best practices of safety in the workplace;
Commit to putting safety first in all aspects of work; and
Report all safety concerns, incidents and near misses.
