Job Description:
Summary
Build your career in solutions-based sales while helping customers improve the performance, reliability, and efficiency of their facilities. As a Maintenance Sales Representative, you’ll develop your knowledge of HVAC and plumbing services, build lasting customer relationships, and learn how to create maintenance solutions that address real business needs.
Role Overview
Develop foundational experience in consultative sales, business development, and customer relationship management.
Learn Harris’ HVAC and plumbing service capabilities through mentorship, field exposure, and collaboration with experienced sales and service professionals.
Identify prospective customers, understand their operational needs, and help develop tailored maintenance solutions.
Support existing customers by reviewing agreements, monitoring satisfaction, and identifying opportunities to improve service, reduce costs, and increase energy efficiency.
What You’ll Do
You’ll spend your time learning the business, connecting with prospective customers, and supporting existing customer relationships. You’ll research target markets, develop leads, participate in customer conversations, and learn how to recommend maintenance agreements based on a customer’s equipment, operating costs, and facility needs.
Working alongside experienced sales, service, and field professionals, you’ll build practical knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems. You’ll also help prepare proposals, maintain accurate customer information, respond to service needs, and turn customer and building data into meaningful recommendations.
Build a pipeline through research, prospecting, referrals, outbound outreach, and relationship development.
Learn to assess customer needs, address questions and objections, and clearly communicate the value of Harris’ services.
Support the preparation of customer presentations, proposals, cost analyses, and recommended maintenance solutions.
Review existing customer agreements, monitor satisfaction, and collaborate with service teams to support retention.
Participate in field visits, technician ride-alongs, industry events, and other learning opportunities that strengthen your technical and customer knowledge.
Why This Role Matters
You’ll help customers make informed decisions about the maintenance, efficiency, and long-term performance of their facilities.
You’ll contribute to business growth by developing new relationships and strengthening existing customer partnerships.
You’ll gain exposure to the full customer experience, from initial prospecting through ongoing service and account support.
You’ll have opportunities to grow your knowledge of conceptual sales, mechanical systems, customer strategy, and business development.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
At least 2 years of customer service experience.
At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal, organization, prioritization, and time-management skills.
A persistent, goal-oriented approach and the ability to stay positive when navigating challenges.
Ability to maintain a motor vehicle record that meets company guidelines.
Ability to communicate effectively in English and work consistently with computers and standard office technology.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field.
Interest in developing presentation and consultative sales skills.
Curiosity about HVAC, plumbing, energy, building operations, or technical service solutions.
Skills for Success
Sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, and accountability.
Ability to collaborate across sales, service, field, and office teams.
Willingness to seek feedback, learn new concepts, and continuously develop your skills.
Adaptability when working with different customers, priorities, and business situations.
Physical Requirements
This role may include customer or equipment-site visits. Candidates must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and, when needed, climb ladders, work in varying temperatures or at elevated work areas, carry a backpack, use small hand or electrical tools, and remove equipment panels during inspections.
