Come innovate with us!
Position Summary
In your role as the Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the design, operation, and continuous improvement of Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, including substations, UPS systems, emergency power generation, and more. You will lead safety-focused initiatives, ensuring that all electrical operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations (such as OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, City of Austin) as well as Samsung’s internal EHS standards.
By overseeing capital and capacity projects, you will participate in equipment selection, system layout, and vendor negotiations to expand electrical capacity and reliability. Lean principles will be applied to equipment and spare part management to reduce waste, increase system reliability, and improve overall energy efficiency.
In addition to strategic oversight, you will support operations and maintenance teams by guiding SCADA/FMCS (facilities monitoring & control system) alarm response, coordinating planned and unplanned maintenance, and developing the annual electrical-related expense budget. You will lead safety and quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and process uptime, while driving a culture of learning, employee development, and job satisfaction within the electrical engineering team. By anticipating future fab power demands, championing innovative power technologies, and aligning with Samsung’s sustainability goals, you will ensure robust, compliant, and cost-effective electrical services that enable world-class semiconductor production.

Operational Excellence: Drive improvements in equipment and spare part management, employing lean principles effectively to optimize inventory and reduce downtime.
External Representation: Serve as an ideal representative of the department and site to external groups, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
Operations & Maintenance Support: Support operations teams responsible for monitoring the site electrical systems and responding to SCADA/BMS alarms; support maintenance teams responsible for equipment planned and unplanned maintenance.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC, NESC) and compliance requirements.
Budget Management: Develop and manage annual expense budgets for electrical operations and projects.
Vendor Negotiation: Support commercial negotiations and establishment of terms related to electrical services and construction projects.
Reliability Engineering: Lead the development of safety and quality projects to improve performance and reliability of electrical infrastructure.
Culture Building: Continually drive group culture toward greater learning, technical development, and overall job satisfaction.
