ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Administration
Serve as a member of the School Leadership team, contributing to system-wide planning, decision-making, and policy development.
Under the supervision of the Superintendent directs daily educational operations and implements Mary Cariola policies, procedures, and processes.
Provide leadership in establishing and evaluating goals, initiatives, and long-range plans.
Provide leadership in evaluating and developing innovative programming for the diverse school population of students
Identify emerging populations and school district needs to provide innovative programming
Support grant planning, implementation, and reporting as assigned.
Assist in monitoring accountability systems, accreditation processes, and audits as applicable.
Instructional Leadership and Program Oversight
Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs and services across all school programs.
Directly supervises principals and instructional leaders to improve teaching, learning, and student achievement
Ensure instruction is aligned with state standards, approved curriculum, and students’ IEPS
Promote data-informed decision-making to enhance instructional effectiveness.
Promote and require behaviors and actions all employees that are in alignment with Agency values.
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to assess program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Ensure evidence-based programming is used as the basis for all decisions involving student programs
Personnel Supervision and Development
Supervise, coach, and evaluate all principals, clinical managers and other school leaders as assigned by the Superintendent
Support recruitment, retention, and development of high-quality instructional and administrative staff.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a liaison among schools, families, community partners, and district stakeholders.
Represent the school and superintendent at internal meetings, community forums, and regional or state meetings as requested.
Communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences regarding district initiatives and outcomes.
Share responsibility with leadership team to respond to critical incidents
Lead and support change initiatives that advance equity, innovation, and student success.
Lead processes for proactive communication and engagement with parents regarding educational program matters
Share responsible with Superintendent for ensuring consistent and frequent communication to all staff in the school program
Guide principals to ensure parents’ are heard as a member of their child’s team and school community
General Professionalism:
Display the highest regard for Agency values by demonstrating ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, Agency personnel, parents, and members of the community
Align all actions and behaviors with the Agency’s DEI values statement and beliefs
Model and promote awareness and understanding of various cultures, backgrounds, experiences, orientations, and religion
Fully engage in essential responsibilities of the position, necessary trainings, and agency meetings
Implement school policies, procedures, and/or processes for the purpose of providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements
Use respectful, effective presentation skills when addressing any stakeholders
Maintain confidentiality in all matters of school and agency business
Adheres to professional, ethical, and legal standards of Special Education and School Leadership practice including maintaining appropriate NY State certification, licensure, and other credentials
Support the overall leadership of the school program
Perform other duties and lead new initiatives as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Skills as a collaborative leader who recognizes school successes and strives for improvement in staff development and student success are required.
Experience leading complex school initiatives and supervising administrators is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement are essential.
Skill in data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and student-centered practices
Master’s Degree and Certification in Special Education. SDL Certification is required (A candidate with a SBL may be considered if committed to obtaining SDL within 24 months.)
At least five years of experience as a teacher or clinician is required and at least three years significant supervisory and administrative experience.
