Job Description

Maintained a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for students, staff, and visitors throughout the school building.
Cleaned classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces.
Emptied trash and recycling bins and ensured proper waste disposal.
Restocked restroom and classroom supplies, including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Performed routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing air filters, and reporting repair needs to maintenance staff.
Set up and broke down tables, chairs, and equipment for school events, meetings, and assemblies.
Operated and maintained cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums.
Followed safety procedures and proper handling of cleaning chemicals in accordance with school and OSHA guidelines.
Assisted with snow removal and salting of walkways during winter months to maintain safe access to the building.

QualificationsQualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience preferred.
Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, sanitation procedures, and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
Ability to operate custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet cleaners.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance and minor repairs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, staff, and visitors.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends when needed for special events or emergencies.
Ability to pass required background checks in accordance with school district and state requirements.
