The fellow will manage 3D electron microscopy specimen preparation and data acquisition using TEM and FIB-SEM technologies. Additionally, they will develop AI and machine learning workflows for 3D reconstruction and ultrastructural analysis of biological tissues.
Candidates must possess expertise in electron microscopy specimen handling and data acquisition techniques. Proficiency in software development for image processing and machine learning is required to support 3D-EM research projects.
Implement and develop software codes used for post-acquisition image stack optimization, distortion corrections and stack alignment. Implement and develop AI/machine learning workflows for 3D reconstructions, automated image segmentations, 3D ultrastructural and geometric analyses from the aligned tomograms. Coordination and supervision of the use of computers of the FIB-SEM lab dedicated to 3D image analysis.
Contribute to 3D-EM projects focusing on the morphometric/geometric analysis of mitochondrial networks, membrane formations and organelle encounters in the brain and other excitable tissues as well as in some select non-excitable tissues for reference. Communicate the methodological advances at conferences and peer-reviewed scientific publication platforms. Manage data sharing and code availability.
