About the Role:
The MDS (Minimum Data Set) Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of patient assessment data within long-term care facilities. This position is responsible for coordinating and completing comprehensive assessments that inform care planning and regulatory reporting. The MDS Specialist collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to analyze patient data, identify care needs, and support quality improvement initiatives. By maintaining up-to-date knowledge of federal and state regulations, the specialist ensures that all documentation meets required standards and supports reimbursement processes. Ultimately, this role contributes to enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency through meticulous data management and clinical expertise. Competitive wages, commensurate with experience.
MDS Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
Minimum of 2 years experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility settings.
Demonstrated knowledge of MDS 3.0 assessment protocols and CMS regulations.
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and MDS software.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
MDS Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as an MDS Coordinator or related credential.
Experience with quality measures and reimbursement methodologies such as PDPM.
Familiarity with interdisciplinary care planning and clinical documentation improvement.
Advanced training in gerontology or long-term care management.
Experience working with diverse patient populations and multidisciplinary teams.
MDS Responsibilities:
