Full job description
Physical Security Construction Administrator
Bernardo Consulting Group (BCG) - Atlanta GA or Columbus OH metro · Full-Time · Up to 50% travel
Target Pay:
$90,000 – $130,000
About BCG
Bernardo Consulting Group (BCG) specializes in designing and managing physical security projects for critical infrastructure clients — including industry-leading data center facilities across North America. We are recognized for our precision, technical depth, and ability to meet demanding project schedules.
Our team includes security subject-matter experts, BIM professionals, project managers, and supporting roles — all working remotely across the U.S. BCG is employee-owned and in an active growth phase. As we continue to grow, we seek individuals who embrace technical challenges and are committed to continuous professional development.
Role Description
This role will be part of a new field-operations function at BCG. This is a chance to help shape how we extend our design practice onto the construction site. The Physical Security Construction Administrator is the field extension of BCG's security design practice, performing onsite inspections at data center and critical-facility construction sites to verify that installed physical security systems are built in conformance with BCG's approved security design documents including drawings, specifications, device schedules, and sequences of operation.
Working in close coordination with BCG's design leads, the client physical security team, the prime A/E firm, the general contractor, and security integrators, the Physical Security Construction Administrator validates access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter security installations per the construction drawings issued. The role identifies and documents deviations and deficiencies, witnesses functional and acceptance testing, and reports field findings back to the design team. It exists to protect design intent through the construction phase and to confirm that BCG's deliverables are realized as designed.
This is a remote role based in or near one of BCG's key project markets - the Atlanta, GA; or Columbus, OH metro areas. Reliable air access matters more than proximity to any single site: candidates must live within easy reach of a major airport in one of these metros. Site travel can run up to 50% but will often be lower than that, including multi-day visits to locations that may be remote, and all travel is fully supported by BCG. Relocation assistance to one of these metros is available for the right candidate. BCG provides all equipment shipped to your home.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled and milestone site inspections of physical security system installations.
Verify installed access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter security systems for conformance including device placement, mounting heights, camera fields of view, conduit and cable pathways, rough-in, and terminations.
Document non-conformances, deviations, and deficiencies; produce field observation reports, punch lists, and deficiency logs with supporting photo documentation.
Review and respond to field RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings in coordination with BCG design leads.
Coordinate onsite with prime A/E firms, general contractors, and security integrators / installers to communicate design requirements and resolve field conditions.
Track issue resolution through closeout and verify corrective work against the original observation.
Escalate design conflicts and unresolved field conditions to BCG design leads with clear, documented recommendations.
Attend Owner, Architectural, and Contractor meetings.
Maintain inspection records consistent with BCG QA/QC standards and project documentation requirements.
Required Qualifications
7+ years in installation, service, field inspection, construction administration, or commissioning, including direct field experience on data center projects or comparable critical-facility environments such as healthcare, high-tech, or government facilities, on enterprise-scale, multi-system security installations.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction documents, security design drawings, and technical specifications.
Working knowledge of electronic access control, video surveillance/VMS, intrusion detection, and perimeter security systems.
Hands-on field experience installing, servicing, or inspecting electronic security systems on active construction sites.
Strong technical documentation skills include experience with field reports, punch lists, and deficiency tracking.
Familiarity with low-voltage/security infrastructure and applicable codes and standards.
Excellent communication and coordination skills, including representing a security scope in construction and progress meetings with clients, general contractors, and subcontractors.
Valid driver's license and the ability to meet the travel requirement of up to 50% at times
Ability to access active construction environments including walking job sites, climbing ladders, working in elevated areas, navigating uneven terrain, and wearing required PPE.
Comfort working amid construction noise, dust, and variable site conditions.
U.S. citizenship and eligibility for U.S. government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience gained with or for a national security integrator - access control and VMS installation, service, and project delivery.
Demonstrated leadership of field technicians or installation crews, including mentoring and training.
Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam Revu, and construction document/markup workflows.
Background in security system design or as-built documentation.
Design-review capability - ability to review and redline BCG security design drawings, flag design gaps or field conflicts, and feed design-quality observations back to the design team.
ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification.
Manufacturer/platform certifications in access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance (e.g., Lenel/OnGuard, S2, AMAG, Software House C·CURE, Genetec) or video management (e.g., Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon).
Military or veteran experience - transferable leadership, operational discipline, and security-operations backgrounds align well with this role and with our clearance-eligibility requirements.
What BCG Offers
BCG is committed to building a team where exceptional contributors are recognized and rewarded. We offer:
Bernardo Consulting Group designs and manages physical security systems for the most demanding facilities in North America — hyperscale data centers and critical infrastructure, from perimeter to server room.
Our roots trace to 2020, when our core team began supporting hyperscaler data center programs across the Americas. Through consistent delivery rather than pitching, we earned a position as a trusted partner — and our reference designs became the foundation for standardized security solutions across major data center portfolios.
We're a lean, fully remote team of security engineers, designers, and project managers who take on complex, high-variable design work and meet demanding schedules. As we grow, we're looking for talented people who want to do the best work of their careers, embrace hard problems, and keep learning. We invest in professional development and build a culture where expertise is respected.
U.S. citizenship and security clearance eligibility are required for client work. If that's you and this sounds like the kind of work you want to do, we'd like to hear from you.
