Job Summary
The Sandblaster is responsible for preparing metal surfaces for painting or finishing by abrasive blasting, grinding, and cleaning materials to required specifications. This role ensures proper surface preparation, supports coating quality, and maintains safety and environmental controls while working in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Job Functions
Apply paint coatings to products using approved methods to achieve required finish and protection.
Read work orders, drawings, and instructions to determine materials, colors, and coating requirements.
Select, mix, and prepare coating materials to specified color, consistency, and finish standards.
Paint tanks, trailers, and aluminum enclosures to required automotive or industrial finish quality.
Clean, maintain, and store paint equipment and tools properly.
Use respirators correctly and follow established procedures for respirator cleaning, storage, and use.
Inspect painted surfaces for coverage, defects, and quality standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe paint area.
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental controls.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred
· Completion of a formal program or one to two years of related experience preferred
· Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Required Qualifications/Training
One to two years of related painting experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and work instructions.
Ability to read, interpret, and accurately use a ruler or tape measure for measurements required in production tasks.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and apply common-sense problem solving.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
High level of awareness of surroundings, risks, and hazards.
Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
Must be medically cleared for respirator use in accordance with OSHA respiratory protection requirements.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing warehouse environment with exposure to loud noise, temperature fluctuations, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and production byproducts, all within OSHA permissible limits. Ability to work safely around hazardous materials, including chemicals, solvents, fumes, and production waste, while following all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations. Work areas may include concrete surfaces, inclines, ramps, metal platforms, and uneven ground, with regular movement around machinery, equipment, tools, forklifts, and production lines. The use of designated personal protective equipment is required, and safety training is provided in accordance with OSHA regulations, company policy, and industry standards. Some tasks and work assignments may be performed outdoors or between buildings and may involve varying weather conditions and operational climates depending on production needs.

Ability to maintain visual acuity required for reading measurements, inspecting materials, reviewing documents, and operating tools or equipment safely.
