About the Role:
As a Senior Art Director, you will oversee 2D art, sales art, and UI/UX across the game.
You will be expected to quickly understand the direction and priorities presented by management and translate them into concrete visuals, production plans, and team actions.
Beyond quality, you will judge priorities based on speed, cost, and feasibility, building and operating a production structure that delivers necessary assets promptly while collaborating with internal members and external partners.
You will also drive the adoption and integration of generative AI within the team — not merely as an auxiliary tool, but as part of the production pipeline covering planning, design exploration, mass production, revisions, and quality control.
You will have the opportunity to:
Management of the art team (2D art, sales art, UI/UX)
Provide clear direction, feedback, and approval standards to staff in each area and to external partners
Understand the characteristics and skills of team members and make appropriate assignments according to project status
Provide direction yourself as needed, leading production through paint-overs, layout adjustments, and reference creation
Responding to top-down direction
Accurately understand requests and direction from management, directors, and game designers, and quickly convert them into actionable production plans
Propose realistic production methods and alternatives that balance quality, cost, and schedule
Clearly communicate decided directions to the team to minimize misalignment and rework
Supervision of 2D art
Oversee all 2D art used in the game, including characters, backgrounds, props, and event visuals
Define and manage the art style appropriate to the game's world and target users, and maintain quality control
Maintain brand consistency across all in-game elements and marketing materials
Supervision of sales art
Plan and supervise sales art used in stores, advertisements, social media, campaigns, and in-game events
Collaborate with the marketing team to produce creative aligned with promotional goals and target audiences
Manage brand expression so that the impressions of the main game and sales art do not diverge significantly
Supervision of UI/UX
Oversee the overall UI design, screen composition, information architecture, and operational experience of the game
Collaborate with UI/UX designers, game designers, and engineers to make design decisions grounded in implementation feasibility
Identify issues with existing screens and features, and propose improvements that account for both impact and cost
AI-driven production advancement
Improve efficiency in concept development, design exploration, layout, variation production, and revision work using generative AI and AI-assisted tools
Continuously evaluate new AI models and production tools, and propose methods for introducing them into actual projects
Establish appropriate AI operation rules with consideration for copyright, licensing, and brand consistency
Qualifications:
Practical art experience in the game industry
Experience developing and operating globally released mobile games or live-service games
Experience managing or leading an art team or multiple creators
High-level expertise in at least one of: 2D art, sales art, or UI/UX
Ability to make appropriate judgments and provide feedback from the perspective of purpose, quality, and user experience even outside one's own area of specialization
Ability to understand direction from management and directors and translate it into concrete production actions
Ability to respond flexibly and with a sense of speed in an environment where priorities and specifications change
Judgment that balances quality, schedule, cost, and resources
Communication skills to convey clear, constructive feedback to internal members and external partners
Practical experience with production tools relevant to the role, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, and Clip Studio Paint
A positive attitude toward AI-driven asset production, with the ability to drive its adoption and use within the team
A portfolio demonstrating game art, sales art, and/or UI/UX work you have personally handled
Nice to Have:
Practical experience as an Art Director, Art Manager, or Lead Artist
Experience managing across multiple areas among 2D art, sales art, and UI/UX
Experience producing marketing art for user acquisition ads, store creatives, social media, and event campaigns
Experience improving visuals based on KPI and creative test results
Game development experience using Unity or Unreal Engine
Production experience using generative AI features such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Photoshop's generative AI functions
Experience building reproducible visual production workflows using AI models, LoRA, ControlNet, ComfyUI, etc.
