Full job description
Are you a curious, driven, and creative individual looking to kick-start your career at the intersection of marketing, events, and sales? This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic, fast-paced environment at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Africa — where your ideas and energy will make a real difference from day one.
About the Role
As a Marketing and Events Coordination Intern within the Sales & Distribution team, you will play an active and meaningful role in supporting the team's commercial and communication activities. From coordinating engaging broker events to helping manage key customer systems and crafting compelling content, you will gain broad exposure to the world of insurance, sales, and marketing — all while contributing to real business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Content creation & thought leadership: Support the Leadership Team with the development of internal and external content, including thought leadership pieces and communication materials.
Internal communications management: Help manage and monitor primary internal communication channels including SharePoint, Yammer, and online platforms to drive employee engagement.
Event planning & execution: Support the Head of Sales & Distribution in planning, coordinating, and executing events — both virtual and in-person — as well as broker engagement sessions.
CRM & pipeline management: Assist in managing and maintaining CRM systems and the customer pipeline tool to support sales activities and ensure data accuracy.
Data extraction & reporting: Extract, analyse, and prepare reports and dashboards based on tool data to support business decisions and track sales performance against targets.
Customer engagement documentation: Capture engagement notes and update relevant customer systems with accurate and timely information.
Operational coordination: Take responsibility for a range of coordination activities within the Sales & Distribution department, supporting smooth day-to-day operations.
Monthly reporting: Assist in generating monthly management reports to track commercial performance and support strategic decision-making.
About the Team
The Sales & Distribution team at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Africa (SRCSA) is at the heart of the business — driving new business growth, managing broker and partner relationships, and expanding market access for SRCSA's products and solutions. The team develops and executes sales, distribution, and marketing strategies, monitors commercial performance, and supports sustainable portfolio growth while maintaining compliance and strong client engagement. This is a collaborative, high-energy team where every contribution counts and there is real opportunity to learn and grow.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn and not afraid to roll up their sleeves. You bring a proactive attitude, strong organisational skills, and a genuine interest in marketing, events, and commercial operations. You communicate clearly, manage your time effectively, and thrive in a collaborative environment where no two days are the same.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Commerce, or a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) with the ability to compile reports and create professional presentations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create clear, engaging content for internal and external audiences.
Analytical ability to extract, interpret, and present data in a meaningful way to support business decisions.
These are additional nice to haves:
Prior exposure to or experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce or similar platforms).
Familiarity with SharePoint, Yammer, or other internal communication tools.
Experience in event coordination or project support, even in a voluntary or academic context.
A keen interest in the insurance or financial services industry.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly in a fast-moving environment.
A collaborative spirit with the ability to build positive relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.
This role is offered on the basis of an 12-month temporary contract, with an expected start date on 1st of September 2026. The gross monthly salary for this role is 9 000 ZAR full time.
Our interns have a hybrid work model where the expectation is that they will be in the office at least four days per week.
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates.
