Position: Philanthropy Specialist 

Location: Richland, WA with ability to travel in Benton and Franklin Counties

Type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Anticipated Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am – 4:30 PM, occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Position Overview:

The Philanthropy Specialist supports Tri-Cities Chaplaincy’s fundraising and community engagement efforts by managing grant research, proposal development, submissions, reporting, fundraising appeals, sponsorships, and foundation outreach. This role builds and maintains relationships with donors, volunteers, community partners, foundations, corporations, and community leaders while ensuring timely donor acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship. Under the direction of the Philanthropy Supervisor, the position supports fundraising events, donor engagement activities, communications, and reporting efforts; uses digital and traditional tools to increase donor engagement and awareness; maintains donor information in fundraising databases; monitors fundraising performance through CRM and reporting systems; and supports compliance with gift acceptance policies, donor intent, and reporting requirements. The position also performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.

2. Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a nonprofit fundraising, development, or grant coordination setting, or equivalent experience. 

3. Minimum one (1) year of experience assisting with or submitting grant applications, sponsorship proposals, or funding requests. 

4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence, proposals, reports, and donor communications. 

5. Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) spreadsheets, and database systems.

6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, maintain accurate records and track deadlines. 

7. Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners, while demonstrating initiative and independent work capability. 

8. Self-motivated with the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, organization, and attention to detail. 

9. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation, as driving is an essential function of this role. Must meet insurance eligibility requirements.

10. This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen which includes cannabis testing in Washington State.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Knowledge of nonprofit financial practices, including grant budgeting, donor-restricted funds, and basic financial reporting requirements for grants and sponsorships.

2. Experience working with donor management databases or fundraising CRM systems. 

3. Knowledge of grant reporting, donor stewardship, and nonprofit fundraising practices. 

4. Experience working with foundation, corporate sponsors, or grant-making organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Fundraising Strategic Planning

· Gathers data, assesses leads, and develops strategies designed to realize the engagement potential of organization prospects. 

· Maintains consistent and appropriate contact with identified organizations.

· Facilitates or develops proposals and ensures effective stewardship of grant awards.

· Designs and implements an effective recognition strategy for all corporate giving partners.

2. Prospects and Gifts

· Develop and implement engagement strategies for each prospect.

· Independently design and coordinate solicitations, both written and presented. 

· Plan and execute donor recognition strategies in a timely fashion. 

3. Collaboration

· Regularly support and cooperate with other members of the Philanthropy Team.

· Moderate to high level of collaboration with both internal department partners and community partners of the Agency to develop and submit proposals and to arrange site visits for organization representatives.

4. Other Duties

· Perform other duties as requested.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $29.88/hour - $36.42/hour

At Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, we carefully establish pay ranges for our positions by taking various factors into account, including education, certifications, knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity, and market conditions. These ranges are tailored to match the diverse programs and services we offer. Our goal is to ensure fair compensation for candidates based on these factors while maintaining internal peer equity.

Benefits (this is for full-time position – edit for part time, per diem, contractor etc.)

· Mileage Reimbursement: $0.72 per mile, for eligible positions.

· Vacation: Accrual of hours each pay period based on hours worked.

· Wellness Days: After the 90-day introductory period, eligible employees can convert up to two sick days into wellness days.

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS
