Job Summary
Summary Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, the Certified Pharmacy Technician II supports safe, timely pharmacy services by performing technical and operational duties in accordance with established policies and applicable state and federal regulations. Responsibilities include preparing, packaging, labeling, and distributing unit-dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, and stock orders; delivering medications and supplies to patient care areas; and maintaining medication integrity through proper storage, rotation, and inventory control. The technician uses pharmacy information systems and departmental tools to document work, support workflow tracking and reporting as assigned, and may be scheduled in central pharmacy and/or specialized pharmacy areas based on operational needs. The role also includes organizing inventory, auditing medication storage areas, conducting safety and quality checks, escalating discrepancies, handling controlled substances in accordance with policy, assisting with onboarding and technical training, and participating in departmental projects and quality and safety initiatives as assigned.

Essential Functions
Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, follows established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine support tasks that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department. Demonstrates familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices. Supports pharmacy operations and helps ensure the safe and efficient delivery of medications and healthcare products. Utilizes area-specific technology, including but not limited to robotics, automation, software, equipment, and pharmacy information systems. Audits medication storage areas using data collection tools, as applicable. Handles and prepares controlled substances in accordance with state and federal regulations. Assists with the training and onboarding of junior pharmacy technicians and pharmacy technician trainees. Understands the complex medication needs of patients and coordinates with pharmacy and medical/nursing staff to meet those needs while providing exceptional service, as applicable. Assists with organizing pharmacy inventory and maintaining operational workflow. Assists with preparing daily work reports, conducting safety and quality assurance audits, and participating in inventory management and control, as applicable.
